the handedness and the light arrow pretty much confirm it being Zelda for me
i mean the handedness hasn't been a real thing since wind waker, so. i mean dont get me wrong i love link being left handed but he's been seen as right handed for two, three games now?

If you mean the Wii games, that was out of necessity - most people are right handed, would have been awkward to have a lefthanded link in a game that relies so heavily on motion control
Aonuma continues to be vague
I thought that, too. I thought maybe it was Zelda when I first saw Link on Epona in the distance.
Eiji Aonuma: That might be something that consciously we kind of did, but not to say anything specific – I am not saying anything specific – but, I am hoping people continue to comment, and I will continue to follow the fan comments and reactions to the trailer. I am certainly curious, and I am sure there are things we as developers can glean.
Those tricky bastards. This is where they get inspiration for future titles.

Introducing The Legend of Zelda U with soundtrack by Linkin Park
You know the picture with the bow is drawn makes him look like a male, while the picture after he's shot the bow looks like a female. Weird.
It's Link and he's a dude.

rip Legend of Victor
Hopefully Nintendo notices the relatively calm and positive response and keeps the idea in mind for a later project. fight the power, yo
This does highlight just how goddamn annoying language barriers are.
Well, the face was always Link's. What muddied it was the fact that he's really skinny compared to usual.
I don't know. if I was a game producer of a venerated series I wouldn't go like "Nobody said it wasn't Link" and then go "Nah it really is Link I was fucking with you, you assholes should have seen the looks on your faces."
Well fuck me sideways.

He's still cute though.
R.I.P. Hopes of female protagonist
Given that this is actually Link now:

Someone threw together what he'd look like with the green tunic + hat. I actually really like this (assuming the real thing is somewhat similar) since the visual style makes it look good.
In Jap archery you use the right hand to draw whether you're southpaw or not.
-snip- Wow s/he is the first one to draw with the right hand, my bad
His outfit looks like the pajamas that Wind Waker link wore though, which is good! The green outfit is only worn by kokiri and I'm tired of them making excuses as to why he has to always wear it to save the world. Hopefully that outfit wasn't the only clothes we'll get to see in the game.
As a side note, Link can't be a girl or I wouldn't be gay for him anymore, and no one wants that. Though if she stays this androgynous I'll finally get to see my ultimate fantasy...
Link in a dress
it'll be some weird side character you work alongside Link with.
I hope they give him the scarf from Hyrule Warriors, it looks sooooo good on him.
I hope if there is a gender change it isn't just backlash from social justice warriors.
I'm all for changing things up, and wouldn't mind playing as a girl, but to me Link is an established character, even if his appearance changes slightly. It would be okay if it was a whole different character, although I still would prefer the ol' fashioned Link running around. Definitely would not like if they made Link himself a girl in this version, that would seem weird.

Link being an established character doesnt mean anything because almost every game has a different incarnation of the Hero of Time. The Link in OoT / Majora's Mask and the Link in WindWaker/Phantom Hourglass are the only two links that have been the same character over multiple games, if my memory serves me right.
There's no written rule that says Link cant be a girl, it is just up to the developer what they decide to do with the character.
The only thing that still bugs me is the sword strap on Link's chest.
It's on the wrong side. Link's left-handed in all of his incarnations (except Skyward Sword if we ignore Twilight Princess Wii).
That's when I think that MAYBE, there will be a bit of customization, unless they changed Link fighting style.
That said, let's not forget Aonuma said himself that were revamping the Zelda formula. So this game will be vastly different if what he said is becoming reality.
Can't wait to climb that mountain!

Zelda 1 and Zelda 2 as well.

Yeah, however I doubt we will see Link as a girl because we had a Male Link for 28 years, unless it is just a gender option, and that the Male Link is the canon gender.
We can't have a female Link the same reason Link has to always have some cooked up excuse to wear the green outfit with the pointy hat; he's too iconic of a character to change too significantly. Sure they can change the age, and the hair color and the eye color, but certain things need to stay consistent.
I guess changing the gender wouldn't be THAT out of the question, but at least that's the reason he always has the outfit. Visually, the outfit IS the character.
I hope there's some clothing customization, never really liked his hat

Also Link to the Past - Oracle games - Link's Awakening
And this link also [sp]is strongly implied to be the gramps character from Link Between Worlds (he has pink hair, when he's shown in the credits it plays Link's leitmotif, when you fight him he has all the best equipment from Link to the Past , etc[/sp]
I hope there's some clothing customization, never really liked his hat
That hat should be falling off constantly. The first time doing a somersault after getting it in the next game should just result in it falling to the ground.
And then it stays there for the rest of the game and nobody says anything about it.
