• Former anorexia sufferer: Airbrushing should be banned

At this point in life, I've learned that whatever women/men they put on magazines are not real. They're all edited or cropped to pieces to make someone unreal (Literally, they take parts of people to make "someone" else). Perfection and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the media has brainwashed so much of the population that those who don't buy into the whole "this product makes you sexy" bit are seen as deviant. call the cops i dont give a shit
Airbrushing and media's perception of women end up seriously hurting women because, combined with self-esteem issues, it makes them feel "not good enough" when virtually every form of modeling uses airbrushing and other post-shoot touch-up techniques. Men feel similar pressures in certain ways, but our pressures are a lot more socially, economically, or even personality based, so we feel much more control over it.
it's irrelevant that the media and fashion industry is simply continuing previous standards incorporated with light touches of post-feminism? if you say so...
Anorexia being seen as beauty was not a previous standard though, that's what i'm saying
