He pretty much discredited himself permanently by giving gone home goty for 2013
Did he really?! Wow. He's lost all credibility to me now
I really think he used to overhype the worst shit in Rev3. He's smart just I don't like his tastes at all. He fooled me into thinking Bioshock Infinite was an actual 5/5 when it came out. And gone home GOTY? What the fuck? Also I remember seeing some twitter posts of his that just annoyed the fuck out of me.
He pretty much discredited himself permanently by giving gone home goty for 2013
Yeah man fuck that guy for liking a game I don't. Cred lost. [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] People act like "GOTY" actually means anything.

Giving your personal "game of the year" award to a pretentious indie art project that can barely be considered a game basically drops how much credibility as a reviewer I personally think he has. Therefore rendering any kind of other review or opinion as suspect, I no longer trust his taste in games. It's quite simple, I am not insulting him or anything. I am not saying fuck that guy, I just hate how he would over hype and fuel a lot overly positive opinions on games that I thought deserved much more criticism.

The whole hate against Gone Home is hilarious. [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] Even Call of Duty doesn't get this much blind fury.
its always good to have the outsiders opinion on the reboot of a franchise though
I don't know, the problem with reboots is they always feel like they're keeping the name and some of the original ip but then completely changing the game (most of the time in a "mass appeal" sort of way.) If you want to make a new game make a new game, don't just cling to old ip for brand recognition.

I just think the amount of times Sessler has bothered me and gave an undesirable amount of praise to many things I think are either ok but with flaws or mediocre at best has just put him off the list of people I trust for a while now. I don't know about the whole "blind fury" part towards gone home, I would say most people think Gone Home is pretentious and forced to all hell, and they would be right. Sure it has at least some craftsmanship towards it I suppose, but putting it high above other actual games that have actual gameplay just seems like he's shining it in a holy light because of it's "art" rather then how fun the game is. To me game's are about fun first, and I tend to appreciate reviewers who take that into account first as well.
How is Gone Home pretentious? It never felt like it was trying to be deeper than it actually was, it felt like it was just trying to tell a story. Now that story happened to be nothing special when it comes to romance plots, but I can understand why people would feel like Gone Home is this amazing new thing when compared anything BioWare shovels out romance wise.

Only reason it got GOTY was cause Sessler had jumped on the SJW bandwagon.
It's just a very short barely game point and click adventure story. The main reason he's been getting jaded is mainly because of comments like these and games that try to go outside violence usually are attacked in some form or another or not considered games.
It's just a very short barely game point and click adventure story. Only reason it got GOTY was cause Sessler had jumped on the SJW bandwagon.
Well yeah, i mean no one can like a video game unless they have an agenda.
But listening to Adam Sessler talk about video games is one of the most relaxing things ever. X-play, AOTS, and G4 in general was my childhood. Now there's nothing left :(
I love Adam Sessler's review but sometimes he can get a bit too pedantic sometimes but that's the style which I respected him as a reviewer.
He pretty much discredited himself permanently by giving gone home goty for 2013
It was his GOTY. Not the GOTY. Edit: He made it pretty clear that list simply was his personal list based on a bunch of factors. I don't think he was trying to make it look or sound impartial or more of a formal list.
It's just a very short barely game point and click adventure story. Only reason it got GOTY was cause Sessler had jumped on the SJW bandwagon.
"He likes game I don't like he must have an agenda!" You nerds really need to get over yourselves.
I'm sorry that his opinion of what he considers Game of the Year isn't what yours is.
uh hey that's kind of what aman is saying??? he doesn't hate sess, he just doesn't trust his taste in games because it vastly differs from his own? but yeah i forgot that taste in something is only subjective when it helps me win an argument [editline]4th April 2014[/editline] I dont even like sessler's opinions, i just think he's funny so i watch all his stuff cause he's not a boring robot.
and now Anthony Carboni is leaving Rev 3. RIP Rev 3.
