Dang. It's been running so long I forgot it was still a beta. Still, now that Steam is IE-free, they can finally launch the Mac port. Which doesn't affect me either, but it's going to be hilarious watching you guys freak out about Mac people all over again.
I love the backgrounds and all the information that shows up when you select a game, and if it uses more CPU then the old steam, that's a bitch..
So far the only thing I really like is the new downloads tab.
Offtopic- I post so little i just noticed the different font for replies, and i don't like it. Maybe I'm just a little unhappy today.
I hate the new UI...
there are way too many fucking gradients, i love the old one instead of hte new one
Downloaded a Enhanced Steam skin and my Steam is now VISUAL SEX.

You wont be able to tell who's a mac user or not ingame and looking at their profile, unless they say so. It honestly don't think that will be a problem.
The only thing I don't like about the beta is that alt tabbing to the friends window or a similar window while running a game tends to freeze the secondary windows, but it's only a minor inconvenience.
I wonder what's going to be added when April 26th rolls around.
Anybody remember what steam was like before community? Me either.
I hope it's a lot better than when I tried it a few weeks ago.
The beta didn't show any mods except the ones from the steam store.
The VALVe Company. They do what they must, because they can.
For the good of all of us, except for ones who are banned.
In dedication to this (soon to be official) UI, i made my own version of still alive
This was a triumph, we're making a note here: users raged.
It's hard to overstate our satisfaction.
We are VALVe, we delay what we must because we can.
For the good of all of you, except the ones that are offline.
But there's no sense crying over every delay, we just keep on spamming sequels to our games.
For there's games to delay and hackers to be banned.
For the people who are offline.
:3:
I hope it's out of beta participation and released on time.

I don't like an overbloated steam that uses a lot resources.

Take advantage of those sales and coupons out there man! That's how I got half of the parts in my computer for a low low price.
(This doesn't pertain to online shopping... the coupons anyways :downs:)
Still the more ressources steam use, the less games can.

I bet my computer is 4x faster than yours. I'm saying that the new client is super unoptimized. It seems like they built the new client on top of the code. Not to mention all the useless stats and info that covers 80 percent of the screen.

I've had Steam open and running for almost a week, and it's only using 62M. That's about the size of 14 normal-res textures, or one high-res one. Games won't feel the pinch except on the measliest of systems. I'm more affected by the OpenOffice preloader.
The only people that would notice that much memory being used are those with less than 512MB, which according to the Steam Hardware Survey makes up less 0.66% of users. I'll be generous and grant you anyone with less than a gig of RAM, which is 4.54% and dropping fast. By the end of the year it will only be .58%, according to my unscientific extrapolation.
RAM is a cheap resource. People are already being forced to get over a gig just to run the latest Windows. Most computers have twice that, and a significant amount have the 32-bit limit of 4gb or even more.
Does this update include the Mac-version ?
well, it's the 20th (in the US) and they said it will be out in April... they got 10 days, but they're on Valve time...
Does this also mean they'll be replacing the whole website?
I, for one, am very excited.
The new client looks nice, but it feels rather bloated compared to the older client.

I don't know what you're talking about because the new client uses 120+mb (for me at least).
Should be an option to support the new and the old skins.

No.

I have the Beta UI Steam Client. It has a cool looking. But why does he update once a day? This is annoying.

Just change your UI to a custom one like I did.
New UI is often useless, just like the always changing youtube UI.

And where did I find something?
