I think this outrage over Google not celebrating flag day is such a minuscule controversy. However, I love how the majority of the participants in this thread have been repeating the age old mockery of over the top American nationalism, but an image like this gets winner ratings.

What makes Swedish patriotism any different than American?

Any time someone adores their (or a) northern European country it is cool and trendy, but when it's America this forum leads an onslaught of jokes about Americans doing the very same thing. Anyone who takes patriotism over the top in any country is a fucking numbskull. And a moderator with a Swedish flag and the title "Ikea Moderator" is no different to me than the Americans who insist that everyone celebrate our precious "flag day".

I take pride in some of the things my country has done, but I know that being born on this piece of land does not distinguish me from anyone else around the globe. Overzealous patriotism is just herd mentality exhibited by people who lack accomplishment as individuals.
