Republicans Know More About Politics Than Democrats, Says Study
would you say that Rick Santorum is neither more or less ignorant than President Obama, he just has different opinions?
I think Rick Santorum's politics are well within the bounds of extremism, and therefore his politics are only agreeable to a select group of people. Personally I think he's an asshole because of the extent of his beliefs. I was talking more along the lines of normal people. What I'm trying to get at is you cannot judge a persons intelligence by their political beliefs. Mr.Santorum may be an asshole, homophobe, and generally ignorant, but he also has a Law degree and an MBA. I think he's misguided, not an idiot.
I see people with a wacky liberal bias and really it's just as bad as conservatives doing it. To them you are just going to look like the left wing version of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. You can't just say "right wingers are stupid lol its common sense because jesus and abortion and they hate poor people". They can put forward equally horrible arguments against the left wing and you'll never get anywhere. You have to put ideas on the same level playing field and look at it logically. If an idea is bad then say "your idea is bad, and here is why" not just "im rite and ur wrong lol". You can't just shut off your brain the instant someone brings up an idea you don't like.
This is exactly what I'm talking about.

well, i don't think anyone actually thinks people who have different political beliefs than them are actually "stupid"
just ignorant, or misguided
people just use idiot out of rage or as a quick word to get a point across or whatever
__
i understand where you guys are coming from about my shitty arguing skills
but i mean
i can't really put it any other way than some things make more sense than others
i guess that just makes me an idiot
Something in addition to my earlier post, one of the biggest divides, by far, is which party is more in favor of smaller government. While this would seem to be the Republican party, it seems the actual members of that party currently in power are far from willing to reduce the size of the military, and are plenty willing to restrict what people do with their private lives - not exactly in line with "make the government smaller." I wonder how much perception bias occurred regarding that particular question.

see i disagree with you here, i think there are people who find others with opposing beliefs to genuinely be stupid.

They only make up a quarter to a third of Congress at any given time, really. This presidential race, only Gingrich was a neocon.
To explain: Neoconservatism is a relatively recent ideology that holds fiscal conservatism/neoliberalism with a preemptive or pro-active foreign policy approach, while holding traditionalist social values with less emphasis on personal liberties.
For the most part, I don't associate a persons political views with a persons intelligence. I know that many in the Republican party aren't racists and bible thumpers, hell, most of my family is Republican and only a couple of them are like that. Those specific views however, I can find those idiotic, horrible, and just generally detrimental. The people are just misguided.

That page is sort of jumbled, I'm not really sure what Neoconservatism is about. I was more referring to the typical near-unanimous votes of Republicans for or against things, primarily in the Senate. If this group (responsible for what I mentioned or not) was such a minority, I wouldn't expect unanimity against things like budget changes.
I too got 13 questions right. Wtf? I'm better than the average congress member?
I've heard it described that a lot of people were liberal early on in their lives, but then decided their ideas were naive and became conservative, thus conservatives tend to be older, hence more knowledgable. That happened to me, now I shitpost on Facepunch.

This is a poll of voters not congressmen.

I dunno I think the posts here were pretty insightful for people.
[sp]this is a joke :3[/sp]
Too many people thinking "Republicans" and instantly going into a keyboard smashing rage, exacerbated by OP's terrible source.
Now let's watch the flood of people who disregard this study because it doesn't fit their viewpoint...
I disregard the study, not because it doesn't fit my viewpoint, but because it is taking the wrong conclusion from a set of data.
People are going to know more about matters that interest them. I mean, Republicans know more about government reduction, being conservative and drilling for oil than Democrats? Democrats know more about cutting defense spending? Holy shit, dawg! Hold the presses! This is news!
This is such bullshit. I mean, it's like you're giving someone a test on your personal life, and then labeling them stupid because they don't know as much about you as your mother. It's like comparing Americans to Chinese and then saying Americans are stupid, because they don't speak Chinese as well.
I won't argue all of it, but more open minded? More empathetic? These are the people who want to shape government after their own views at the cost of other people's rights.
GOP wants more rights for american citizens, remember it's the democrats threatening the first amendment with SOPA and the like and the Second amendment with pretty much every gun control law ever. We're here to keep you morons from getting rid of our constitutional rights, not the other way around
remember it's the democrats threatening the first amendment with SOPA
sopa was written by a texas republican wtf
sopa was written by a texas republican wtf
and then backed by democrats.
I'm not surprised to hear this. I've seen other studies in which liberals tend to be more "stubborn" than conservatives in their beliefs.
I've seen it in person, too.
I've seen it on Facepunch.
and then backed by democrats.
it was sponsored by 4 democrats compared to 10 republicans
and like most democrats and republicans were against sopa in the first place
And my dick is nine inches
wide
I decided to try this test, since I'm not from the US.

Fairly certain that the "was xxyy a republican or democrat" questions fucked me over, I don't know a shit about american history or politics in the first place.
I suppose my results were fairly average.

Just thirteen questions? I'm going to take this test when I get home. This should be fun.
I got 12/13 and I'm not even American.

What did you guess? FDR and Pelosi are Democrats, Boehner and Lincoln Republicans
Took the test got ten right. I'm not an american so all the was X or Y a democrat or republican kinda shafted me. Because I honestly haven't heard of two and have no clue what FDR and lincoln were on the scale.
Assumed FDR was democrat and guessed it right.
i got 12/13 too. the one i got wrong was John Boehner. I put democrat, but he's republican apparently. it just sounded like he had a democrat's name.
it didn't, and i didn't say it supported the study, merely the statement. it's not a justified comment because it views the other side as complete idiots, and i don't care which party you are, blindly prejudicing the opposing party as bumbling idiots is stupid.
i don't think laughing at the idea of idolizing the GOP as a caring, open minded party is hateful or viewing the GOP as idiots. its laughable to think that the people against gay rights and abortion are "open minded" and empathetic when one of their major platforms is getting rid of welfare
i got 12/13 too. the one i got wrong was John Boehner. I put democrat, but he's republican apparently. it just sounded like he had a democrat's name.
He's currently the Speaker of the House, where the Republicans hold their majority.

Nope, lets disregard the study because it comes from a source that looks about as reputable as InfoWars.
