Global fossil fuel subsidies are $5.4 trillion when accounting for hidden externalities. $37.5 billion for the USA.

Does this include things like The Low income energy subsidies or manufacturing tax breaks that are for all US manufacturers?
If so, then it's a fairly useless number.

I just checked, and yes, it does include those types of "subsidies (these account for billions of dollars a year)." They also include things like the US government not doing accurate assessment for lease rates (listed as 2.2 billion in the report). These are not legal subsidies, but inefficiencies in the the governmental system.
We shouldn't be subsidizing anything, but if we're going to be, I'd rather my taxpayer money go to the energy that isn't going to cause runaway climate change and subsequent food and refugee crisis.

You won't find disagreement about that on my end. My original point was simply that the attacks against Musk are about the government reliance of his enterprises, not his production of solar panels.
No one would be attacking him if Solarcity was standing on it's own two feet.

As a side note, that report you cited also includes the Iraq war as a subsidy for oil. It accounts for over half of the total you listed. As far as I can tell, based on the report, $34 billion of the $37 billion that you listed comes from military action in the Persian Gulf and end user subsidies like the low income energy subsidies. (I actually have no idea how they reached that number because the numbers in the report they cited don't line up with the numbers they said.)
Why? You have nothing to do with this.
I was proud to be born in the USA despite having nothing to do with all of its accomplishments.

Let's not subsidize solar or EVs, let's just tax fossil fuels for the damage they cause.

Tesla has only owned Solar City for a little more than a month. Give him a year or so to get things in order. Yeah I know he was involved previously with Solar City, but he didn't really get involved too much.

I will never understand why.

I mean, he helped start the company and it was based on his idea.

Well let me explain why I feel that way, its actually pretty simple. If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life, and I had to start again with just my children and my wife. I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today 'Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away. And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me. And I'd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today. 'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

Yeah appreciating actual freedom is quite jarring to us

In what way? Are you easily scared every time someone tells you to sing your country's anthem?

that's not the national anthem though?
Its funny how we don't hear about oil subsidies then, I could of sworn it was a move by big oil to hurt Tesla somehow
tbh its sad to think that Tesla is legit the best thing for future but the past is trying to hold them down

These are the lyrics to a song. There's no real sentiment being expressed here, and anyone hoodwinked by this shenanigan ought to feel properly embarrassed.
It's usually covered by Country artists. I think I've got the Charlie Daniels version in my car.
I think this counts as shitposting. I don't know. It seems dumb.
And people actually think all the real estate and the useless new Bills stadium will actually clean it up.
Glad this is bringing jobs to my home city, though. Now THIS could actually help Buffalo.
A new Stadium Downtown would give people mire of a reason to go there, stay at hotels, eat at restaurants, and do some shopping. All which would help bring more money and jobs to the area
Great. we NEED solar panels and wind/hydro power. Musk does too. You can't exactly run a fleet of electric cars on a fossil-fuel burning grid. The stress on the coal plants would be worse than burning gasoline
He's only a naturalised citizen, so he's not eligible for presidency/vice-presidency. But he can run to be Prime Minster of Canada[sp] please do [/sp], or governor of California which he'd have a good chance at winning I think.
But I honestly don't think he's really into being in politics and all the bureaucracy it entails.
He can do enough in the situation he is in.
I fear that he'd have to go through a lot of bureocratic bullshit if he was in politics.
