I went from a 3gs to an S4 2 years ago, and I just got an S6 today. I have no intention of ever going back to Apple.
One thing I must say, iPhone has a good camera I wish android could catch up, because the features suck.
Tell that to the LG G4 and the Xperia Z3. [editline]23rd July 2015[/editline]
The samsung rant goes with pretty much any heavily modified android roms: ie. Lg, Sony, HTC. They cost for the brand and the hardware is generally shit [editline]23rd July 2015[/editline] My merge :(
So basically you're saying people shouldn't buy any android phone other than a Nexus or Moto. nah thats dumb
iOS is generally accepted to have the best third party app support. It's weird how you think that when you use WP.
The third party apps on WP are amazing because the first party apps on WP are absolute shit, save a few.
So basically you're saying people shouldn't buy any android phone other than a Nexus or Moto. nah thats dumb
"Stop buying shit things" sounds pretty reasonable to me
"Stop buying shit things" sounds pretty reasonable to me
Saying every single phone made by most top manufacturers are shit sure isn't though.
I really regret getting an iphone The lack of freedom and itunes is pissing me off
I have to agree I went from an iPhone to an S3 (rooted, however) and it was like I went from being able to change the wallpaper to being able to change everything
Saying every single phone made by most top manufacturers are shit sure isn't though.
I said generally. The LG G4 is amazing. On the other hand LG forgets about their old devices pretty quickly. Nexus and Moto are great because they get the same manufacturing love and attention that an iPhone gets without costing nearly as much. People just frown at android because it exists in so many different ways that people buy cheap $100 phones and then complain it isn't par with a $800 iphone. Yeah no shit
people should only be comparing flagship androids with iphones because that's what iphones are, flagship phones, it's no use pulling out some shitty mediatek 4.1 bloatware lagdroid as an argument against android as a platform android is way way way more open and competitive, you take more risks in finding a phone for yourself but it can also be much more rewarding [editline]23rd July 2015[/editline] samsung/htc/sony should really exist in their own respective categories too, far far away from the original design envisioned by google
Well cheap android phones are shit. You get a crawling system and/or no updates. Considering this and the amount of cheap android phones creates a bad impression in costumers who know nothing, then these costumers change to a different platform because they heard it's "better".
Funnily enough, although this is true, I got a Galaxy Note 4 last year on release day, best phone that you could get on the market spec wise at the time, it and it still stuttered and lag. Then again, Touchwiz is a piece of shit. Switched to an iPhone 6 Plus in January which is half the power spec wise but performs insanely well in comparison.
I would switch to any company any day if someone just started making phones with actual fucking buttons again. I hate touch screens, and has the following functionality: calling and texting.
So just get an asha or something. EDIT Honestly more than happy with WP
The best phone I've used is my current Nexus 6, would have gone with a 6+ if it wasn't ~£250 more. The Galaxy Note was one of my favourite phones until every software update from Samsung made it run slower and crash more.

Apple hardware is custom made and their OS is heavily optimised for it, so you can't really just compare the numbers on paper. The 6+ outperforms the Note 4 in pretty much every benchmark.

Jailbreaking my iPhone made it a million times better, just tweaking some aspects like speeding up OS animations and adding HTML lockscreens and then it's the perfect phone for me I used to be all about Android but I just wanted my phone to work and have a nice level of polish, with Android I enjoyed the freedom but I didn't need/want it at some points, plus it seemed like the longer I had my Android phone the slower it got

I had a galaxy fresh before, and the thing stumbled around with just a couple of apps running at the same time, plus had 0 updates which I guess was good because that way it wouldn't get slower... I changed phones but instead of going to iOs and have to deal with the fuckton of restrictions it comes with and pay out the ass for it, I bought a midrange android xperia m2, and despite wanting to get a newer and more powerful xperia model (and smaller, this is kind of big...) I kind of really love this phone. It's only at iphone 4s/5c or maybe even 5 level of good, but I absolutely love it, and it rarely fucks up. All a person needs is to choose wisely.
On paper, with just numbers, it is. But yes, they are not comparable in terms of everyday usage.
The numbers don't really mean anything when the hardware is completely different though. It's kinda like saying an old 3GHz Core 2 Duo is faster than a modern 2.5GHz i5 because the clock speed is higher, when it's a lot more complex than that. Probably the biggest disparity is the 3GB of RAM the Note 4 has compared to the 1GB the 6/6+ has, but even then it doesn't make a massive difference since they handle memory differently and iOS is a lot more optimised for it. With 1GB of RAM the 6/6+ still flies and never really bogs down, whereas 1GB of RAM on an Android phone usually isn't a very pleasant experience. In the end they're just two completely different platforms with different requirements.
I use to be a huge supporter for Android. Until I realized the freedom to change themes and play emulators was really not something I wanna do on a phone I would like to last longer then 5 hours. I also hated the feeling of my device becoming antiquated by new models almost instantaneous. The defragmentation for updates was also horrible during my time with a EVO 4G. Even being into rooting, emulators, tethering, and customizing, I still prefer my iphone just for the simple fact it is a more streamlined experience.
The whole "you need a new android phone every year to be usable" really has no basis anymore. It's starting to hit a plateau of sorts for general use, as the Moto G shows, and the fact that the LG G2 still handles anything you can throw at it just fine, and probably still will for a while. Fragmentation issues aside, I think Android phones are lasting longer and longer than they used to.
itt no-one had a proper android People who claim they've had android when all they got their hands on are samsung shit-riddled phones are delusional if they think they represent android as a whole. Samsung modifies its android so much it pretty much stops resembling it altogether, plus it's filled to the brim with bloatware and completely unstable. Get a proper one instead dinguses I'm not going against apple here, the iphone, specially the 6 is a pretty solid phone. Specially when you compare it against the bottom 98% of the android market.
I've had a nexus (Which had virtually no bloatware) and I still massively prefer iOS, the nexus was so unstable in comparison, the back smashed when I put it in my pocket and the battery was almost completely shot after 2 months
In the end it's all preference. I have two active phones on me at all times, one's an iPhone and one's an Android. I definitely prefer the Android, and I've actually had less stability problems with it. Plus it gets better battery life. (For those of you familiar with my G3, I'm talking about it's battery life before the fuckhuge battery case)
My Samsung S4's experience was comparable to an iPhone, just with a worse camera. My LG G4 is awesome. The thing that honestly stops me from getting an iPhone is iTunes.

I think the issue is on google's end really. When they push updates they throw everything in them and make no distinction between older and less capable hardware and the top end and try to maintain parity between their devices. Which is a completely different aproach to either apple which pushes for top end, but disables certain features on older devices and microsoft - they push the bottom end whilst maintaining a baseline parity. So as a result, the more you update an android phone, the more bogged down it becomes.
Odd, I had no issues with my friend's moto g on lolipop.

I've owned a 2G, 3G and 3Gs, every version of iOS that they launched with ran like butter, but as soon as a new major version released the phones all ran like total shit compared to their older selves. Android is a bit different as it can have features disabled but never seems to unless there's no hardware support, but this is usually not a problem as so few of the manufacturers release updates for a lot of their devices in a timely manner so the phone will be super outdated by the time you get the update.
Yeah, my 5 is pretty sluggish on iOS8 Edit: I hate writing iOS with a lower case i. It feels so wrong.

This thread pretty much confirms that it's good Android and iOS exist since everyone will like something different from the next. I am a huge Android fan but I had my mom buy an iPhone since it is dead easy to use and I know she isn't going to fuck it up somehow.
I'm totally guilty of this. I switched from my HTC One, of all phones, to the 6 plus, and I haven't looked back. I don't even like Apple as a company - but this thing is the bee's fuckin' knees dude.
As much as i respect peoples choices for android or whatever else, from my expirience iphones are the best overall.
The single biggest reason I prefer Android over iOS, is that if I want to put music on my phone, I just copy the MP3 from my computer to my phone, and it works. No dealing with iTunes and having to go through massive leaps and hurdles just to put a song on my phone. Same goes for every other type of files.
