looks terrible.
How do people who live in the UK don't know they have a £50 note in their currency?
For the same reason a lot of people here in the States don't know we have a $2 bill. It's not really used.
One day I hope I will be ritch enough to afford a £50 note
Every time I make a large withdrawal from the bank I ask for it in 50s, makes you feel like a boss.
I think I have a 50£ note somewhere in my house. I didn't want to spend it :v:
Every time I make a large withdrawal from the bank I ask for it in 50s, makes you feel like a boss.
Yes but it makes it look like you have more if you ask for it in a smaller currency
If you think £50 is much then check this out. I've only seen it once in my life.
Do you guys have a 100p note? I personally have yet to actually possess an actual $100 bill. It was only recently that I even held one. I've had plenty of $50s though. $20s are super popular here though.
-Somebody beat me to the joke-
For the same reason a lot of people here in the States don't know we have a $2 bill. It's not really used.
Well because that note isn't actually produced and circulated. It's different in this situation.
Do you guys have a 100p note?
100 pence
100 pence
I meant 100 pounds.
I meant 100 pounds.
As I am aware of, £50 is the highest pound note we have.
As I am aware of, £50 is the highest pound note we have.
What are you talking about
If you think £50 is much then check this out. I've only seen it once in my life.
Most places in Europe will refuse to accept that anyway, and most banks are required to inform the authorties if people pay them in or ask for money in €500 notes. Pretty much the only use for it is criminal activity.
Because it's really not that widly used, nor accepted without a great deal of hastle (first they'll check the FUCK outta it to make sure its not fake) then they'll ask you if you have smaller change first
I serve on a checkout sometimes and i can safely say that every day i have to check at least 1 £50 note, i think they are more common than people realise.
Darwin's on the tenner. I've always loved that.
i love the weird looks i get for using scottish notes occasionally. oh that strange 3rd world country and its crazy notes
I was pretty sure they got rejected throughout the rest of britain. Although here people get funny looks for using English notes rather than Scottish.
I have a 50 pound bill and I live in America.. I got it from one of my friends who went to Europe and back. It's pretty nifty and nice to keep in the wallet :)
that's weird, i use $50's and rarely $100 bills maybe it's because of currency rates that you don't use 50 pound notes?
Biggest US denomination is $10,000, so that's pretty cool: [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/50/10000-2f.jpg[/t]
Do you guys have a 100p note?
We got rid of the £1 note in 1988.
Resisting the urge to make a Harry Enfield joke

He thought it would be cool to just have one big note in his pocket and then split it once there. Unfortunately no one could take it because it was too big. I think he got it fixed later when he went to the bank.

The largest in-circulation note here is $100 and people at McDonald's never bat an eyelash when I use one to pay for a $2 meal. :v:
Then why have one at all?
I personally think its a trap, but it seems its because a lot of the currencies it replaced had stupidly large notes as well (I can think of at least the 1000 DM note and the 10,000 Belgian frank note) so obviously those countries wanted a similar Euro banknote.
Our $50 is pretty stupid, we have 2 series of them in circulation at the moment but here is the newest(comes november 2011)... Looks kind of stupid compared to our old one, but whatever its going to be plastic which means I can jump into freezing water while holding money!
For reference, this is the current one, and it's quite a bit larger than the £20 note 156mm x 85mm
I wish the US had money that was as pretty as this :(
i've only ever had 2 £50 notes. which were quickly put in the bank because nowhere round here will accept them anyway. my work is the only place that does, and even then, we have to go through procedures to check if they're real or not. they're a real pain
As I am aware of, £50 is the highest pound note we have.
i think you can still get Scottish £100 notes. very rare though
