I don't think its concept art but it is def a "bullshot" i.e. an image made from assets being used but super touched up and staged, and the models are likely not optimized for game usage yet. AKA, the models are likely running at full "rendering a CG video" quality, not running in a quality where the game can smoothly run in real time The game will likely look a bit worse than that either for performance or gameplay reasons
Oh wrong terminology but yeah that's definitely a bullshot. You can see how some elements are painted for christ sake
I haven't been able to even start up DX1. It's looks so dated that I seriously can't even try playing it. Is there any HD-mod or something at least to make it hurt my eyes less?

The reveal looks dope.

stun knuckles
Holy FFFFUCK.
Here's the music from the trailer grabbed from that code. http://a.pomf.se/utjxhd.mp3
I know this is late but again, you need to go back and try to force yourself through it. Looking back at that one post about not caring for the original, and seeing all of those agrees, they're missing the whole point and I'm not sure they've bothered to even take a look on Youtube. Yeah it's ugly, it was like that when it came out. Stop looking at it that way, appreciate all the freedom and get through Liberty Island and then totally forget about it for the rest of the game, and then look at all of the options that are available to you right from the get-go. Look at the augs and the level design where you may not even see entire areas in levels and the routes actually change in major ways based on what your configuration is and then look at what HR did and didn't do. It's funny to me because looks aside people that enjoyed HR would definitely enjoy the original too if they'd just get through the starting levels like up to battery park. Human Revolution was literally a simplified take on the first one, with less replay value.
Nah, for me the original has too much freedom (plus the graphics). I can see why people love it, but it's not for everyone. And I find the balance Human Revolution striked between more mainstream-friendly directed gameplay/storytelling and freedom of choice quite remarkable. I got a lot of the latter without ever feeling lost.

It's not too bad, unlike the late-90s games that came out right as companies were moving away from sprites.
Jensen got some upgrades, and the nano machines are coming in too. We're between where HR and Deus Ex were now. Now, lets see how this game lives up, and if we'll get a remake of the original Deus Ex.

I think we will see the beginnings of nano augmentation in this game. Maybe we will meet Gunther? Or the guy from the novels

Wasn't that the original pitch for how HR was supposed to end?

Can people not stand the original Half-Life either because it's too ugly? Maybe I'm just getting old and kids can't appreciate the classics.

Half Life has NPCs that at least resemble humans when they do anything for the most part. Deus Ex has basically sprite-faces and two polygons per limb (exaggerated, but holy shit they have no detail at all). Also it handles like shit. That puts a lot of people off playing it. I managed to get fairly far through Deus Ex with a bit of perseverance, getting past the fist level is the problem pretty much. The combination of ugly visuals, clunky gameplay and and awkwardly hard first level puts people off so much.

I'm playing through Deus Ex now and I remember the humans in Half-Life looking worse.
Holy fuuuck that music is as every bit as good as HR i am hyped as fuuuuuuuuuuuck
I am being cautiously optimistic. Human Revolution was barely a Deus Ex game in my book. It was a good game no doubt, but the stealth really felt shoehorned in at times and it had like 1/10th of the complexity. I could go re-play DX1 now and play it through front-to-back for the 10th time and have fun with it, but every time I've tried playing through HR again it's felt extremely stale and I couldn't be arsed getting past the first hour of gameplay. Not to say that it wasn't a great experience the first time, as I expect this will be, but neither carry the replayability and complexity of the first. As I've said before, DX1 is more of an RPG played from the first person perspective, while HR is an FPS with RPG and stealth elements.
I never beat the original, but now there's the Director's Cut that everyone says is much better. Is there a way to upgrade my Steam version of the original with the DC content, or do I just have to buy the game all over again? They seem to have just totally removed the original and all its DLC from the Steam store.

Which does suck a little, because for some people Director's Cut has some incredibly annoying graphical glitches that are not present in the original (or were fixed, but have not been fixed in DC)
IMO there seems to be too much going on in some of those screenshots making it look a bit disorientating, especially the second and last pics. I hope that's toned down ingame. Looks pretty rad tho
Thats fairly normal for pre-release I find, i doubt they'll be anywhere near as busy at release
I came.
I came.
I still am

Deus Ex tries to create a believable world with lots of close-ups on its models. I don't find Deus Ex unplayable or anything but I have to agree with hexpunK that of the two, Half-Life has aged better, because it doesn't call attention to its technical limitations the way Deus Ex often does.

I also think nostalgia lenses play a big part. People who played Deus Ex as it came out probably have an easier time going back to re-play it or recommending it to someone else. I played Half-Life as it came out, or not too long after and I had no problem only recently going back and playing blue shift and I think its an amazing game everyone should experience. However to someone who hasn't played half-life yet it probably doesn't looks too enticing.
can we talk about the bullshit that Adam's coat doesn't have fucking flowers on it also oh my god that fucking CGI trailer what the hell was that cocoon that was insane
can we talk about the bullshit that Adam's coat doesn't have fucking flowers on it also oh my god that fucking CGI trailer what the hell was that cocoon that was insane
I imagine losing your well-off job as security director of one of the top Augmentation firms, combined with being rescued half-dead again and having to essentially rebuild your already-crumbling life from the ground up, doesn't give one much room for fancy floral print coats anymore in the midst of an economic and social crisis.
Here's the music from the trailer grabbed from that code. http://a.pomf.se/utjxhd.mp3
Sounds like McCann is the composer of this game, or at least someone of similar talent.
So the Self Destruction ending is the canon ending then. Can't say I'm suprised. :v:
