Putin is probably trying to make the best out of a bad situation seeing how even when Russia giving separatist artillery and materiel support separatist have basicly lost.
Now he is trying to show his people how generous he is by helping the people in siege'd city. And showing how "bad" the ukrainians are by trying to stop it.
It is obvious now that separatist have no power left to push back the Ukrainian army, they are probably in false hope that big Russia will come and beat the ukrainians back. Which probably doesn't happen since Putin well knows the consequences of such act.
you're brainwashed by your own media. what makes you think 15 bags of rice will help entire towns? it's a political statement by putin trying to safe his own face, and that's ALL there is to it. fuck the kreml, fuck putin, and stop trying to push your agenda of «he's just doing the right thing!» after he's spent month destabilizing the area for his own good.
how the fuck do you have the guts to claim he's brainwashed when you might as well be too? because he's from Russia/outside the EU? what makes you think he's hearing propaganda but yet you're certain you're not hearing propaganda?
At the end of the day, he probably is hearing propaganda. And so are you.
Sorry, but I just can't take this 'aid convoy' to be a legitimate attempt to provide help to civilians. Or, even if there is actual aid in the trucks, there has to be some of ulterior motive involved. Russia's track record is just too poor now for them to suddenly turn around and say: "Look, sorry, we realise we have been dicks and we just want to help. Honestly." The fact that they haven't cooperated with the Red Cross just fuels my suspicion - why be so uncooperative if they legitimately want to help?
After the various controversies surrounding the events of the invasion of South Ossetia, the invasion of the Crimea and the blatant rigging of polls, and the shooting down flight MH 17; I just can't help but smell something very fishy.

I meant a source that actually confirms something. Having a shitload of empty trucks get checked out by journalists on a Moscow organised official tour a week ago is hardly assurance the cargo is legit when they crossed the border.
Don't think Putin really cares about public opinion/world opinion or he wouldn't of illegally annexed Crimea.
Don't think Putin really cares about public opinion/world opinion or he wouldn't of illegally annexed Crimea.
If he didn't care about public opinion he wouldn't be a president. He is no idiot. His "annex" of Crimea brought him unending popularity and his ratings are higher then ever.

It's not proven that rebels lost.
and now the US wants the russian trucks to gtfo ukraine :)
gg russia apologists
US wants a lot of things. Nothing will happen this time.
Rebels haven't lost ?

I'd say the reason for having so many trucks with so little supply would be that if one truck gets hit, it doesn't destroy a lot of the supplies. But, since it's in a convoy, this makes me skeptical.

Wow, a picture. It proves everything.
Can you post a bigger version? I can't read anything.
Our sources are saying the exact oposite: Ukrainian army is devastated and retreating constantly.
I believe the truth is somewhere in between. Ukrainians are more luckily to loose due to incompetence (solely in my opinion).
I like the story about Kolomoysky (the oligarch who supplied the whole anti terrorist operation and is responsible for using his private army to shoot some Ukrainian soldiers near donetsk, for still unknown reasons) when he took the technical oil from captured coal mines and sold it to the army with a 3x price tag. They even started some investigation because this was basically robbery. Robbing their own army! I just wanted to point out what I mean by "incompetence".

You are truly a little tool of Putin. You have yet to figure the blatant corruption and fakes news you are fed. Honestly, I don't even care about talking to you. You are a waste of time and pawn of your dictatorship. Ukraine is winning the fight against drunks and imperialists. Hopefully Russia changes for the best soon otherwise more like you will spawn.

Oh I see you didn't read my post.
The BBC is a state owned news agency, just like RT is, so lets discount them as a source for a minute.
All western media still isn't a hivemind, and I'd kind of trust that the reality on the ground is that the rebels are losing a lot more men and the vast majority of their ground while the Ukrainian.. forces.. bomb their way pretty heavily handedly towards rebel strongholds.
You guys are retarded, the left over space is for weapons. Isn't it kind of obvious?
-snip tiredness and bad reading-
State funded, not state owned. BBC operates entirely independently but financed by the taxpayer.
Who owns it?
Who owns it?
edited it out, forgot about share ownership. That having been said, RT is directly run by government department, whereas BBC is owned via shares.
You guys are retarded, the left over space is for weapons. Isn't it kind of obvious?
Probably not. I think the Russians have better ways of getting weapons into Ukraine than on a high profile convoy.
First of all, a large but empty convoy is flashier and more memorable to the population, also making it easier to exaggerate how much aid did Russia really send. Massive propaganda bonus.
Probably not. I think the Russians have better ways of getting weapons into Ukraine than on a high profile convoy.
On a second, more speculative note, it's possible they used the convoy to hide the movement of transport troops and military equipment from further in the country till they reach the border, where they could then separate from the convoy before border inspection and cross on their own. Could also explain that border incident, if it really happened.
Civillians on both sides are in need of aid and this country provides it. This just shows how little they care of people. Politics first, people last.
Hell yea Russia provides aid... in the form of surplus military hardware, cross border military operations, and a hell of a propaganda campaign.
I believe the truth is somewhere in between. Ukrainians are more luckily to loose due to incompetence (solely in my opinion).
Okay, I usually don't drop in here and state things, but this is just flat-out completely wrong. First of all, the victor or loser of a combat situation is not an opinion. In fact, it's very easy to project if you look at trends and the likelihood that they're going to change. So far, Ukraine has been kicking the seperatists' asses relentlessly and the People's Republics aren't nearly as strong as they were when the military action began.
First of all, here's the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic on May 11th, 2014, during the referendum to separate from Ukraine:
[thumb]http://dlofr.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/439px-donetskrepublic-svg.png?w=640[/thumb]
Now, let's look at it now:
[thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cc/Donetskrepublic.svg[/thumb]
(Territory controlled in red, pro-separatist unrest in light red)
The Lugansk People's Republic basically held the entirety of Lugansk, now look at them:
[thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/25/LuganskPeoplesRepublic.svg[/thumb]
(Territory controlled in blue, pro-separatist unrest in light blue)
The fact is, the separatists are backed into a corner and unless the entire Ukrainian army decides to collectively piss on the President's face and off themselves in some pitiful state of drunkenness, there's pretty much absolutely no way the separatists are going to get out of it, incompetence or no.
Unless Russia intervenes militarily, but that's an entirely different can of shit altogether.
