Oh yeah, for those of you bitching about the name Freedom Tower, that's not the official name. Its the 1, World Trade Center (Or One World Trade Center, I am not sure on the comma.) The Freedom Tower hasn't been its official name for a while.
i reckon they shoulda made 3 towers instead of 1

and painted them zebra stripes so they blend in together when the planes attack.
Once installed, the spire — weighing more than 700 tons — will crown the Freedom Tower at 1,776 feet, making it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Still won't be the tallest in the western hemisphere, the CN Tower is taller, 1815.4 ft.

I get the feeling they went with 1776 for a reason.

"October 7 – Crown Prince Paul of Russia marries Sophie Marie Dorothea of Württemberg."
That why?
While generally I don't like overly nationalistic things (like slapping the word freedom on everything) I do have to say that I quite like this as a "Fuck you, terrorists" symbol. Yes, 9/11 was a huge event that will take a really long time to move on from as long as there are people alive that remember the event but at least this is a nice symbol that such a horrific act can't completely crush the spirits of the people.

It was a beautiful ceremony.

Why didn't you put 541 Meters in the title too?
Why didn't you put 541 Meters in the title too?
Because that's not American units of measurement you commie.
Why didn't you put 541 Meters in the title too?
Why do you hate the freedom measurement system?
Why didn't you put 541 Meters in the title too?
inferior way of measuring things
yeah i know, the freedom tower is such a stupid name, it makes America look fucking retarded, the terrorist unfortunately won with this though, they knocked 2 buildings and it took them years for them to rebuild
like what penn & teller said on their video, casinos get knocked down and built back up in days, why did the towers take so long, and was this design even needed, why not the basic design, a little taller and with more safety exits and stuff
Are you an architect? I'd wager not.
ah yes, the land of equal-rights for women, getting groped at the airport because everyone is an evil terrorist unless proven otherwise, and making a huge fuss out of a flashlight laying on the middle of a road because it might be an evil terror bomb.
that flashlight was part of a very interesting attack plan. someone seriously rigged flashlights with 1/2 sticks of dynamite rigged to explode when turned on and left them all over the place. now think, what is a normal human reaction to finding a flashlight? turning it on, thats what.

Reminds me of this comic.

years from now people are going to point to the 1776 foot height and do some funky math and say it comes out to 666 when you divide it by the amount of somethings in the something, and blame it on secret organization and that the old towers were in their way so they got rid of them, you watch,

Read the quote I posted. I know why they went for 1776, but their claim that it's the tallest in the western hemisphere is wrong.
Kind of funny how the rest of the world complains about america being too patriotic whenever we do anything remotely approving of our country, but if they do it its fine :v:

Probably because we don't use SLAVERY to build our landmarks.
Why build another giant tower? Why not something tasteful, like a park?
You can't crash a plane into a park... Well, you can, but you get what I mean.

Manhattan already has a pretty sizable park.
Freedom Tower?
It's so funny to see how much of a boner americans get with so much patriotism :v:
it's not legally called the freedom tower, though, and most of us aren't obese redneck super-patriots either.
maybe I'm just interpreting it wrong, but that post really makes you come off like a dick.
I like how it takes 28 posts of patriotic images and videos for someone to actually post a picture of the damn thing.
Illuminati headquarters.

It took them ten years to rebuild a single lone tower or rather a skyscraper. Hope it's quake proof and weather resistant

it's in new york, i don't think you'll find too many quake-resistant buildings in the north east considering we're not even close to the edge of a tectonic plate
