It's fun to tease people about it (sometimes, depending on the person), but there are people out there who are serious and will not have anything to do with you over this stuff. Speaking from personal experience on that, back when I didn't have my 4S (cracked the screen) and had to relegate to a BlackBerry for a while. It's like anything else: we live in a materialistic society, so that's naturally going to encourage shallowness and pettiness. It's a ~prestige~ thing. Humans like to dickwave over pointless stuff, possessions especially. "You haven't got X. What's wrong with you? Are you poor or stupid or something? Ew." Doesn't matter whether we're talking big things like houses and cars or small things like shoes, phones, jewelry, etc. It happens. I don't think it's a recurrent thing with phones though, at least not as commonly as what the article implies. Or I should hope not anyway. Basically if you're an adult with a life and have an ounce of worth to you, you're not going to care what kind of phone I use. Likewise, I don't care what phone you use. I just want a smartphone for myself; it's convenient, fast, and enjoyable. If you don't, that's fine. If you prefer Androids over iPhones, that's fine too. I wouldn't think any less of you as a human being for it.
I can't help but to notice people who go out their ways to argue about iPhone/Android, Mac/PC, Xbox/PS4 etc often have very little real skills in life. I guess they have to compensate for it somehow
I'd take a slim android using girl over a fat iphone using girl all day long.
I'm surprised it would even expose that information at all. Why does it need to tell people what platform I'm using?
The sole reason I still stick to Apple is iMessage....Cant beat it. Phone dies? I can text and call off my macbook. Faster sending and receiving.

They totally have the infastructure with Voice and Hangouts but it feels half assed, still having to switch between SMS and Hangouts manually.
I feel like there's more than simply a conscious lower opinion of someone who has a different phone than you. While no doubt there's certainly truth to it, I think what contributes to such high numbers is personality differences. Certain personality traits are more likely to purchase an iPhone and other types of personalities are more likely to purchase Androids. and similar personalities will attract eachother. Life for example, hipsters or tech illiterates or people who are well off might be more opt to purchase an iPhone, (not always the case, I have an Iphone and I am neither of those traits) and they will be attracted to those similar to themselves.
Jokes on them I have Windows phone

I thought most of the hate was just humour but I guess there really are people out there who judge others on their choice of phone.
I got angry over phones too... when I was 14.
Isn't their something to be said though about someone who's willing to spend $600+ on a product that's only slightly better than a $300 one? This goes for both iPhone/android users.
Imagine caring about other people's phones.
Yeah, it's really fucking annoying when I like a girl who doesn't have an iPhone (or anyone, really). You know how fucking painfully slow SMS is? No delivered or read receipts? I understand the benefits of Android for some people, but I'd rather have something simple that just works and behaves with all my other friends iPhones seamlessly.
You know how fucking annoying it is to have phones that require special snowflake cables because Apple is an asshole that doesn't know what a standard is? SMS is plenty fast enough, especially if you're texting someone like me who isn't permanently glued to the damned phone in the first place and sometimes may not answer a text after 3, 4 days.
Jokes on them I have Windows phone
You're never going to get a girlfriend now sorry
You're never going to get a girlfriend now sorry
Neither will you with that Android, poor boy. [editline]15th February 2017[/editline]
Neither will you with that Android, poor boy.
I wish we could all be as brave as the iPhone 7
Neither will you with that Android, poor boy.
Jokes on you, my girlfriend has an Android because we are too poor for iPhone
What about BlackBerry?
Can't be negatively judged on a date if you can't get a date to begin with
Can't be negatively judged on a date if you can't get a date to begin with
How many 60 year old businessmen are in the dating scene anyway?
FAKE NEWS made by ANDROID USERS. SAD! [editline]15th February 2017[/editline] seriously though who the actual fuck cares what kinda phone you got that's some first class spoilt little shit kinda thing
Yeah, I'm not dating any filthy Apple-using degenerate. You with your locked down system and lack of a physical back button, you all disgust me. Especially since you all got hacked into by the government already and you can't hide anything anymore. Me on the other hand, I use Android, courtesy of Google. I was part of the botnet all along. You merely adopted the spyware. I was born in it, moulded by it.
I used to be one of those iOs vs Android defenders. Always used android and currently have been using iOs for two years. Either of them are fine. Just use what you feel like using.
You're never going to get a girlfriend now sorry
As it happens my gf bought it The battery lasts forever. Probably because there's no apps
What the fuck is wrong with people I too only date people who only own headphones that are audiophile grade and have an tube amp Duh [editline]15th February 2017[/editline] Last time me and my friends talked shit about our phones was when slider phones were the killer thing to own
The sole reason I still stick to Apple is iMessage....Cant beat it. Phone dies? I can text and call off my macbook. Faster sending and receiving.
There's limits to that though. You can only call or text people who are also using iMessage. RCS will work for anyone that can receive it (Supposed to be a global standard), and Google's Voice service will call or text anyone with no limitations. Hopefully Google realizes which pieces to glue together to make something good.
People still use iPhone? No one I know still bothers with them, seems to me that that site made up a stat and sent it to the Verge to get free publicity. Normal people don't give a shit what you're using.
filthy android peasants can't take my aristocrat iPhone can you? Honestly who cares what phones you have, it's a matter of preference. I've used both android and iOS and personally I like iOS more, has some features that android lack but generally I just like the phone more.
You know how fucking painfully slow SMS is?
What? Are you for real? "it takes 15 seconds to send a message across the country/anywhere in the world instead of 2 seconds :(" Can someone please explain? I have SMS conversations all the time and ya, it's not as fast as an IM like Facebook messenger, but it's it's not "painfully" slow, I get replies within 10 seconds sometimes.
I have a feeling that you probably wouldn't want to date the kind of person who makes a big deal out of this in the first place.
This is a very poorly worded conclusion. 21 times more likely than what? 15 times more likely than what? I'd assume it means more likely than the "average person" but doesn't basically everybody have an iphone or android these days? It seems like the point of reference is completely lost.
