As incorrect as it may be, I would assume this comes down to the people thinking they are financially worse off if they are using an android phone.
I remember reading about a study that was done in Sweden (I think it was here at least) where they came to the conclusion that the average iPhone user was in much greater debt than an Android user. So it is quite the contrary. I make dumb jokes about the whole iPhone vs Android thing which are always tongue in cheek but actually taking the whole "Oh you are using X over Y" seriously is beyond stupid.

I can see the debt part being true.
I used to solely use android for many years till two years ago I switched to a iPhone.
I really do love both oses as they both offer different stuff.
You know even though android has crazy ass hardware, I noticed majority people outside the country that's on android pirate everything via apks
iirc iPhones are only popular in the USA and Japan
lol what are you talking about? iPhones are still popular just about everywhere in the world.
I have a feeling that you probably wouldn't want to date the kind of person who makes a big deal out of this in the first place.
Exactly, it's an asshole filter.
You guys heard of the green bubble hate?
You know how fucking painfully slow SMS is? No delivered or read receipts?
These are pretty petty complaints tbh. If I could have a phone with a stylus built in, headphone jack, open ecosystem, swipe keyboard, charger cable that works for my Surface's keyboard/PS4 controllers/phone instead of just the products of one company, etc. but have to deal with text messages being slow and not having to respond immediately to not look like a dick, I'd take that opportunity.
And so, I have. I used to have an iPhone, all the way up to the 3GS. Then I bought an Android and never went back.
problem is apple's proprietary services are so good
facetime works way better than skype anytime

wat
how, look at this

its so slick
even the flat version looks as good this. a phone that looks as good as that with more functionality than an iphone? hell yeah
Yeah really, Google needs to work on that. They totally have the infastructure with Voice and Hangouts but it feels half assed, still having to switch between SMS and Hangouts manually.
Voice is completely unrelated to the Android ecosystem as a whole, and is basically just a service that provides a second phone number. Just a SMS/voice routing system more than anything.
Oh, and Hangouts is being phased out in the consumer space, Google is retooling it and targeting it for businesses. They're basically expecting people to use Allo and Duo instead.
Their replacement for iMessage was supposed to be Allo, but there's a few problems with it.
1. You can't use it on more than one device at once. Not exactly huge with iPhone users, but it's slightly inconvenient. You can do this in Hangouts, but like I said, that's being phased out.
2. As a consequence of the above, moving to a new phone means you lose all your messages. This makes sense in the context of encryption and such, but it's also a massive pain in the ass.
3. It's not a default app on Android, and it has to be setup. This alone is enough to completely kill it.
4. There's no real SMS compatibility. Technically you can SMS people from Allo, but it shows up as being from some random 5-digit proxy number and not from you, which makes it a pain to use.
It's an incredibly useless app, more of an alternative to Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, or a million others than iMessage, which is what Google and Android really need. And it even fails to compete against all of those!

I use a £120 Lumia 650 which costs me £10 a month on giffgaff SIM-only.
Compare that to my partner's crippling £60~ a month for her iPhone 6S Plus and I know what kind of phone user is financially worse off :v:
Jokes on them I have Windows phone
Our babies will be beautiful and Windows Phone users.
I was REALLY against all Apple-based things when I was an edgy, "anti-capitalistic", anarchist piece-of-shit when I was like 16. Now I've grown out of it and I just don't care about things like that anymore.
Judge the person, not the piece of expensive plastic they're holding.
I'm very tech savvy yet I've never used anything but sms. Nobody else I know used anything but sms either... Wtf?
I had iPhone once....
For 24 hours, I bought it off some dude who was quick selling it for 100 Euro (It was iPhone 4, this was 3 years ago). it had no box, so I called people I know that have iPhones and asked them if they have iPhone 4 box they don't need, got one from a friend, scratched off S/N label and it was ready.
I bought it only for profit, I posted an ad: iPhone 4 16GB for sale @ 240 Euro.
Jesus fucking christ - my inbox got spammed, there was at least 25 people messaging me asking if it's still available and when I am free to meet up.
Sold it next morning for 240 Eur with collection.
Another time - me and my friend went to meet seller of iPhone who was selling it for 100 Eur, my friend bought it later to find out it was CDMA (US version in a country which doesn't even have any CDMA carriers) so he was basically stuck with this iPod.
I bough tit off him for 90 Euro then found seller next day who paid 200 Eur for it because apparently he was moving to US in few weeks time.
That's the only time I dealt with iPhones.
Other than that:
Nokia 3310 ->
Siemens A60 ->
Motorolla of some sort ->
sony ericsson K610i ->
Nokia C3 ->
Some Chinese phone with dual sim, bass speakers and 1 metre high aerial ->
LG KU990 ->
Blackberry Curve ->
[Android Era began]
Galaxy Ace ->
Xperia U ->
Xperia Z ->
Xperia M ->
HTC M8 ->
HTC 10 (Current)

The only country it has a higher market share than Android is Japan and only a handful of countries come close. Saying only in the US and Japan was a bit exaggerated but they are the biggest markets for iOS
Didn't some iPhone users also get their panties in a twist back when Instagram was released on Android devices?
Yeah, it was funny as hell. How entitled can people get?
Got a friend who bought the iPhone 7 a while ago. He had a 6S before. He's the kind of guy to shit on someone for not having a nice car or a nice phone or nice clothes or anything that is hip at the moment, but he also forgets he's the kind of guy who's uncle gives 100 euros just to mow his lawn.
Why are people assholes over fucking phones?
iirc iPhones are only popular in the USA and Japan
To be fair, I'm pretty sure most of it is subconscious.

I'd rather send faxes back and forth than deal with skype
