600,000 'not disabled enough' for disability benefit

That phrase should really be re-written to say "A vast excess of money doesn't buy happiness. A comfortable amount of money does." Or something like that. After a certain point, money doesn't make you happy. It's what you do with your life that does, but that only comes after you have already fulfilled all your monetary goals.
No it doesn't
Money -> Happiness in knowing you have money -> Happiness in being able to spend that money on things that make you happy.
I'm guessing who thought that saying was a poor person.
I don't think I'd be too happy without money. I'd have no house, no car and I'd live on the street.
So how can this guy be happy.

Because not everybody is the same.

Because he has a job, a house and a family. But you don't really know anything about that guy, he could be a depressed wife beating alcoholic who so happened had his picture taken while smiling.

Depression is where you simply can't 'get happy anymore'.
I guess you're just lucky you've not been depressed.
I wish I could get paid for not being able to spell properly...
The only major downside I can think of right now is not being able to do anything involving numbers. It's majorly embarrassing when you charge someone twice as much as they should pay because you read the change as dollars and dollars as change.
and imagine you read had this doing sentences If I it, difficulty this all like the of level you disability too. time, would you for file
Translation.
If you read sentences like this all the time, and you had this level of difficulty doing it, I imagine you would file for disability too.

I'm pretty sure suffering is relative to each person, it's part of the human condition.

True.
I'm pretty sure suffering is relative to each person, it's part of the human condition.
Exactly. If you're a millionaire with tons of shit, there's lots of stuff that could still make you unhappy. Like losing a family member.
This thread has become about how money makes us happy or not, and what magical jobs people can get if they have disabilities.
Without sounding like a back seat moderator, I think we've gone a little off topic here. But that's just a suggestion.
Well, that explains Roger Mahony's efforts to hide pedophiles, he was doing his best to make sure people judge the Church correctly.

I didn't actually know who he was and more quoted it for what he said than who said it. Apologies.
With the job center you have to prove that you've applied to at least 14 jobs every 2 weeks or they kick you off.
That's only if you get a pedant as an adviser - a lot of experiences with the job centre really depend on the person you get and not the written down "guidelines" unfortunately.
I was lucky - when I was unemployed for about a year after finishing uni (until January this year) I got to sign on with my disability adviser who happened to be really nice since I'm diagnosed with Asperger's (which I don't personally claim anything for).
My partner currently see's a very friendly and empathetic regular adviser who I've met on a couple of occasions so me and her have been pretty lucky so far.
Sounds like nobody is bothering to actually treat the depression
Exactly. Mental health services seem pretty lacking, at least in my area, can't speak for elsewhere.
What's the mental health system like in the UK
Is he able to actually get a psychiatrist or counsellor to talk to on a regular schedule
In my current area (West Midlands) it is very very hard to get face to face counselling (6 months plus wait) or assistance and the PCT gears most of it's resources to group sessions (not great for asperger's and social anxiety afflicted people) and telephone which isn't always the most comfortable of avenues.
I get $340 AUD a fortnight for Aspergers/Anxiety disorder, actually goes towards important shit such as clothes and expenses for living stuff.
I don't think I'd be too happy without money. I'd have no house, no car and I'd live on the street.
It's more the options and privileges that money provides than the money itself I'd say although that's kinda stating the obvious.
