More then half of it's cars still look like this [t]http://vagon.metro.ru/photos/81-717-01.jpg[/t]
I am surprised it isn't all white with red stars plastered over it
Reminded me of this:
the future is scary
Say goodbye to whatever union all those Underground operators belong to. Another round of middle-class, organized, properly-represented jobs gone forever.
Sucks for them. Hope the doors don't hit them on the way out~
I can't express my jelly enough as someone who rides the NYC subway regularly. These fucking trains are just awful sometimes
It did make me wonder just how much faster it would make the tube trains since (as far as the northern line goes, which is th eonly line i use) they come every 2-3 minutes anyway. I mean, what would be the balance of trains arriving quickly vs embarkation time given to people waiting at the platforms.
And the sad part is that the DC Metro was the nicest and cleanest one I have used in America by far. Admittedly, the only other one I have used more than one or two times is the Chicago Subway, which is completely disgusting. It just shows how little of a shit our country cares about public institutions, transportation or otherwise.
Well isn't the main problem behind that the fact that everything related to public transport over their is privatized or given as little funding as possible? Over here we get private companies running on government owned lines (tram lines and some rail lines) and our buses are private companies which get funded to run longer less profitable routes so that there is always a transport link to places. Without these agreements between companies and government it just turns into a profit war, little as can be spent while raking it in, routes get damaged, places get cut off and so on.
We're starting to live in the future.
Considering that we can communicate effectively instantaneously across the globe, have 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, 365 day a year access to the aggregate of all human knowledge at our finger tips, and can do ridiculous shit like transplant fucking hands... I think we're already well in the future, man.
wow this looks sick, i am quite jealous.
Gone for the better, I think that more automation will get us closer and closer to not having to work in order to live.
Hahaha. Do you think somebody is going to give you free money to live off of? Automation means employees can be fired, not replaced, and the difference goes to the owners and executives.

the look reminds me of a sci-fi film especially the interior for once science fiction predicts how things look
Tell this to Moscow metro. More then half of it's cars still look like this [t]http://vagon.metro.ru/photos/81-717-01.jpg[/t]
I have been to moscow... And their new underground trains are amazing!
Thats some space age looking shit, they were in dire need of an upgrade anyway
SelTrac can allow for headways of at least 60 seconds between trains without interruptions but in critical peak hours I've seen it run 30 seconds between trains.
It's a shame the current SelTrac implementations are uncomfy as fuck compared to the Westinghouse system on the tube.
Damn robots coming over here and stealing our jobs!
It's a shame the current SelTrac implementations are uncomfy as fuck compared to the Westinghouse system on the tube.
What scares me more is that unlike the original design that used leaky coaxial antennas laid along the rails the new design uses 802.11 based wireless technology. Unless they took special precautions to encrypt and protect the signalling form interference the door is open to all sorts of malicious problems.
