Those cops are lucky he didn't fight back. I mean, the way they acted, I would have likely mistaken them for rival hitmen rather than police, and start shooting back.
Wow.
The guy is lucky that this is caught on film.
absolutely disgusting
They were serving a high risk warrant, and they were well within their rights to shoot the pit bull if it even looked like it was trying to escape the cage to get at them. A high risk warrant for a casual user with children. That's the main issue here.
I have a teacher who used to be in SWAT. They do shoot dogs because drug dealers train them to attack cops. So the cops probably thought those dogs we're about to attack. Sure they we're in a cage but when you enter a supposed drug dealer's house your going to be quick in reacting.
Killing pets when they were doing nothing and you are just a trigger happy asswipe should be punishable by death, just like killing a human. Somebody loved those dogs just like family. These people make me sick. I hope he sues them. I'd donate money to help him pay for a good lawyer.
I mean they didn't even just kill the first dog. They shot it and let it suffer to death.
I hope those cops die in a car crash

Most felons make babies, didn't you know? Perhaps we should just let everyone with children go to prevent breaking up families.
They were serving a high risk warrant and whether or not he had children has nothing to do with it.

The fact that he had children isn't as important as the fact that he is just a casual user, not a dealer. I'm saying that the police should have taken care of the kids before shooting their pets.

Contrary to popular belief, pitbulls are some of the nicest dogs of them all. They just get trained to be dickheads for dog fighting and stuff.
I mean maybe I could maybe understand shooting the dog running at them if they are trigger happy and nervous, but the caged dog should never have been shot. Ever.

Actually if you listen closely [or actually listen at all], after disabling the dog an officer puts it out of it's misery, hence why after a second shot the whining stops.

As someone with a furry avatar you should be more sympathetic to the suffering of animals
Where did he shoot the Corgi? At 2:12 - 2:16 he says leave the dog alone and it passes by the guy on the floor.

Yeah, they do shoot it again now that I think about it, but they let it chill there for a good little bit.

It was shot in the leg.

It does not matter how sweet your fluffy wuffy pitbull is, and it does not matter what breed the dog is. The dog is a threat, and they had no way of knowing how secure the cage was. In fact, if it was so nice, why was it in a cage to begin with?
Contrary to your belief, pitbulls also have some of the most powerful jaws and the strongest necks, and have been known to break bones through armor.
In fact, if it was so nice, why was it in a cage to begin with?
Maybe it shits everywhere, we don't know. The guy even says "Don't hurt my dogs, they're nice dogs."
before taking out the warrant, they're briefed on the location and what they could be looking for. without a doubt they were told that there were going to be kids in the house. they also most likely knew there were pets inside. they don't go into these things not knowing whats behind the door.

Don't kid yourself, they were firing the moment they opened the door. It was only later that they encountered the pit bull and then decided to kill it. Shooting a corgi in the leg is really efficient, isn't it?
Of course the dogs would be acting uncontrollably aggressive after armed and masked strangers break into their home and start firing.
Maybe their warrant was "high-risk", obviously they were incredibly misinformed as they broke into a quiet family's home and proceeded to slaughter any animals they found.

Then again they bust into a casual user's house with guns so I don't think you see the real problem here.
........
I know you're trying to justify the cops actions, but you just sound sadistic.
At the end of the day, they bust into the guys house and shot his dogs infront of the kids. GG

No, that is pretty common knowledge. That is why they get trained for guard dogs since they can wreck people. Dogs get caged because they get into trouble sometimes when you leave them alone, or they climb on the furniture, or any number of things. Not because it is a threat to anything. It does not matter how secure the cage may or may not be. The dog was in the cage. If it looks like it is getting out, then it may have been excusable to shoot. Regardless of how strong the cage is, the dog won't bust out and teleport into their face. It will take it a second. They can learn how to not shoot everything they see.
Yeah, they do shoot it again now that I think about it, but they let it chill there for a good little bit.
Oh, maybe because they had slightly more important things to be worrying about?
Think about it.
You've entered a home, serving a high risk warrant. If the suspect is not in a drug induced stupor or a comatose sleeper, he now knows you are there. At this point, he could be seeking to arm himself in any manner of ways.
You enter the hall and see a pitbull that appears to be trying to escape it's cage to get at you, so you disable it for the well being of your officers. Another officer hits the corgi as it runs at him from down the hall [this is all speculation of course, based on what I heard in the video]
In the time that just passed, the suspect has probably found his handgun, and pressed his back to a wall and is waiting for you. Or perhaps he is the stupid type and is now charging towards the hallway with a gun held out in front of him, intending to end it with a fight.
Since the pitbull is dead and the corgi is disabled, you move on, guns raised to secure the suspect before anything else.

Holy shit!
IT'S COMING RIGHT AT US!
Eh, the suspect was already secured any lying on the floor when they shot the dogs.

Uh, no he wasn't? Watch the video.
The officers are barely in the door when the shots are fired.

Wasn't so much a snip as I realized the volume of bleeding heart in here was critical and me irritating it could cause massive hilarity.
