I'm usually against the death penalty but in cases where it's clear the person can't be reformed, I'm unsure what to think.
What about in cases where they can be reformed but it's irrelevant because they've got life with no parole?
Death is too good for him they should have given him a life sentence and put him in with all the black people in prison and let them beat the fucking shit out of him and rape him as well! Also he is most likely a neo nazi as well he said at the trial that he wasn't mentally ill when his lawyer was trying to use the insanity defense. He then went on to say that psychology was bullshit and is a made up Jewish invention so he's obviously a Nazi.
Amendment 8.
I know some people are going to disagree with him being put to death, but I'm sorry the guy deserves it. He's fucking evil, saying he wasn't sorry and was glad to do it. Given he stated he wasn't insane and decided to defend himself, he essentially was asking to be put to death.
Sorry but I really have to disagree. Sure, the guy is a piece of human shit, but the death sentence is a very long process which has been proven to be stressful for the victims families because they get dragged into the whole political debate surrounding it, and they also get no extra closure. America is not a society which needs the death sentence.
What you lose is a relatively young and able-bodied person. Albeit a very dangerous one, who is evidently not safe to be ever released.
While it's only a marginal loss in terms of gross domestic production, it's the principle that counts - is Dylann Roof not good enough to contribute to the country's economy?
So long as his labor input, and the labor input of other inmates, can outweigh the costs of their accommodation at an acceptable standard, plus the upkeep and maintenance of the facilities and the wages prison staff, and so on. I'm sure it could be managed.
Let's get serious, people.
[sp]Sorry Craptasket, just ban this user as well. It's Bat-shit here. I just wanted to give out my voice of reason. It's been too long, you bastard.[/sp]
Because killing him let's him get away with what he did. He should suffer in prison.
Causing suffering to the perpetrator is not the point of legal punishments. Pretending that it is is a harmful mentality that, while satisfying, is detrimental to actual progress. Imagine if, hypothetically, offering him and others like him therapy (yes, I know, he doesn't deserve it) would cause similar crimes to occur less frequently? Maybe that is not the case, but imagine if, hypothetically, there is one or more undescribed things that you could do with such criminals that would lower the crime rates. One might imagine that if you were able to create a list of all the options, and test for their exact effect on crime rates, you might be able to rank them from least to most effective. Do we know where on such a list execution would be? Do we know where on the list "making him suffer as much as he deserves" would be? In short, the legal system is there to prevent crime and that should be its one and only goal, even if the means to achieve it aren't 100% understood. Causing him suffering might be satisfying to you, but it could be detrimental to society as well, and nobody's bloodlust is more important than doing what benefits society most.
I'm very against the death penalty always without exception
