hmm maybe the Bill of Rights isn't 100 percent infalliable...
maybe it has something to do with it being written in a very different time from the modern world
NO THATS CRAZY IT IS ALWAYS PERFECT IN EVERY WAY

I guess you're right.
We might as well get rid of freedom of speech too.

BECAUSE THEY'RE OSTENSIBLY RELATED THAT MEANS THEY'RE EXACTLY THE SAME
analogies are always right 100 percent of the time
You're all fucking idiots, I was making a joke about the reasoning to this, I don't disagree with it at all.
It wasn't funny, therefor it wasn't a joke.
Holy god.
Thats awesome!

Yea sort of.
I guess freedom of speech is outdated too.
Haha I got ninja'd
Alright, how about this:
How can you tell what rights are outdated and what rights aren't?
Bad idea for the Saudi government considering how oppressed the population is.

What about legalizing slaves? Or removing the right for women to vote?
Let's rip up the entire constitution and have the Government decide the new rules, shall we?

god forbid a government should change to reflect changing technologies
revising old laws does not equal INSTANTLY TURNING INTO A FASCIST AUTOCRACY
never mind the fact that we live in a representative democracy where you choose the people who make up the government, so any changes made would, assuming the American system of government works, either reflect the will of the people or be removed by the officials that the people elect to replace the ones that made any changes unwanted by the people

Historical imperatives are irrelevant. The second right ultimately exists and The Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favour of it.
god forbid a government should change to reflect changing technologies

Yeah, but it defiles our rights as Americans, and opens/paves the way for a communist/fascist oppressive government.

Ok well let's get rid of the 4th Amendment. In times like this people can't afford to have privacy.
Im going to go buy myself a gun now.

hoo boy let's do nothing but argue by analogy
analogies are always correct 100 percent of the time, so there's no problem with it

It's the same logic you use, so the analogy is correct.
Okay.
Have fun being defenseless.
Okay.

It isn't about defense(at least for me). He is right that anti-gun laws have lowered crime. My problem is that it is also considered one of our rights, and how can you decide which rights are outdated and which ones aren't? That's why the Constitution is there, to protect our rights from people who think that it is outdated or useless.
Crime-rates are extremely low in Saudi Arabia anyway.
Guess why? :smugdog:

I honestly don't want some bureaucratic fool deciding what I can or cannot do.

I don't want any fool deciding what I can or cannot do. As long as I don't hurt anyone physically I should be free to do whatever I want.

well statistically, I'm safer in countries like Sweden or India where guns are virtually impossible to get, so I'm fine with that

Bears.
well statistically, I'm safer in countries like Sweden or India where guns are virtually impossible to get, so I'm fine with that
Yeah.
All violent crimes are committed with guns.
Guns aren't just used for defense against humans.
What if a bear was running at you? What are you going to do? Grab your gun? Nope. You voted to make guns illegal. So your defense from then on is to poke it with a stick and hope it goes away.
Yeah.
All violent crimes are committed with guns.
don't matter what they're committed with, the fact of the matter is that the countries I listed are much safer in terms of all violent crime
This is great! Now the law abiding citizens have a way to defend themselves against the unlawful that have had guns this whole time.
Seeing a country give it's people such a great freedom makes me really happy.

They're not safe havens. Violence happens everywhere.
Also, unrelated to the current subject, you have 666 posts. Keep it like that. It's cool.

yes but much less violence happens there
oops, missed your edit, wouldn't have listened to it anyway

Terrorists just walked into India and shot up Mumbai.
Honestly, such an attack would never occur in an American city, where a good portion of the civilians own guns and would be prompted to use them.
don't give lame gun self-defense scenarios
the truth is that guns don't kill people, people kill people
