could you think of anything dumber to bring up?
I'm sure if I tried I could.
2,866 posts over 3 and a half years. You have 100 in 15 days.
Just want you to know you look pathetic insulting someone for post count and it just shows you have no actual argument.
Why, there's still time to try to fix the Federal Government's SPENDING Problem. Or are you still trying to apply socialist views on my country?
Our* country. This country is founded on the idea that it's what we make it. If america wants socialism, then so be it. Don't denounce an ideology because it doesn't fit in with your skewed sense of patriotism and american history (protip: Look up "Agrarian justice" by thomas paine)
Except it's exactly what happens around here. Every other week it's "Ban Republicans" on here. And the conservatives do the same with Democrats.
It's a good thing that 'Republican' is the only other ideological position to 'liberal'! I support some republican things (eg upholding constitutional rights), but loathe other aspects (eg foaming at the mouth religious). Same with the democrats. Ban all political parties - make your representative actually represent the views of their electorate, not of their party. [editline]16th April 2011[/editline]
could you think of anything dumber to bring up?
It's justified, because the other guy brought up post counts.
I like the idea of abolishing political parties. A county tried that a few years ago and the feds stepped in and said no, because people wouldn't know who to vote for without that extra letter after their name...
no. ridge brought up post counts first also banning political parties is impossible.
Why is it impossible?
because people are going to form groups and telling them not to is about as useful as telling people to not pirate music
Hey. Hey guys. Wanna know what I think? I think a great system that would work would be a system in which there are no "-ism's". http://www.thevenusproject.com/ - This will never happen but it certainly should, and I think both conservatives and liberals can agree with me on that if you look at it. This system completely phases out the monetary system and automates everything from food production to medicine.
because people are going to form groups and telling them not to is about as useful as telling people to not pirate music
These parties serve as a national place to pool funds and sell their usefulness to people, and as we have all seen, leads to class warfare. Leave the parties out of it, make the politicians stand on their own accomplishments and beliefs.

We don't need no parties, we need more and more equal opportunity for them. It's just the two party system that we have that's fucking us up so much.
2,866 posts over 3 and a half years. You have 100 in 15 days.
Most of them are pretty short. [editline]16th April 2011[/editline] probably poorly thought out too.
develop a limitless supply of renewable, non-contaminating energy.
Please share this wonderful invention with us! [editline]16th April 2011[/editline] Yes, the Venus project is a very nice idea, unfortunately, the entire world opens up when scarcity no longer fucking exists. [editline]16th April 2011[/editline] Wow, not only that, because it promises to remove waste by eliminating consumer choice. Hey, why do we stupid people need different types of car? We'll just build one for each purpose! Why bother with different food? Why not just give everyone nutrient rich gruel! Considering the venus project lives in an imaginary world of limitless and cheap energy, they picked a fucking terrible, totalitarian system that Stalin would have thought was extreme. This website, the more I read, the more I rage!

You need to remember that people don't really buy a product to have the product, they want the product for the use it provides. A hummer and a Prius both can get you to point A from point B, the only difference is the impact on the environment and the amount of money you'd need to spend on gas in the long run. Also, I don't really see what is so totalitarian about the system, you need to remember that if the monetary system was phased out, I can guarantee there would be a massive decline in crime rate worldwide. Also automating pretty much everything would allow everyone to never really have to work again, relieving a lot of the stress people have, which would also decrease crime. The maintenance and necessities that humans would need to work on normally would require a monetary incentive to do so, however considering you'd be living in a system which entirely helps you and everyone around you. I'm willing to bet people would volunteer for such tasks.
Why DO people need different types of cars?
Because we're human, and in the Western world, we praise individuality.
How is this an issue? Jesus christ. You're both imagining a world with limitless energy (yes we will automate the entire world with solar panels - I fucking wish!), and this is the best you can come up with? We can all drive hummers, and pollute the atmosphere, because we limitless cheap energy, we can remove it all! We can travel into space, we can terraform entire planets, we can do virtually anything that is physically possible!
Keep in mind that most of the discretionary funding (shit that's left over after we pay for the mandatory spending) goes straight into the military. I'm for boosting up the retirement age to 70,but every politician is afraid of pissing off poor people.
Why would they care? They have been lowering higher class taxes for a while now.
Because we're human, and in the Western world, we praise individuality.
Buying different types of cars doesn't make you unique or express individuality. Nor is human.
Buying different types of cars doesn't make you unique or express individuality. Nor is human. Sure variety is cool, but worshipping self-indulgence isn't exactly the greatest thing out there.
What about haircuts? Different clothes? Different religions? Different beliefs about economic systems? Well screw that, because you're all going to be under the Venus Project. People don't need any of the above. Why bother giving it to them?
Not wanting water to be capitalised means they're out of touch?
No, it's amiable. Not understanding that billions of people can't drink from streams is, and that water distribution (and more recently, generation) takes a fair amount of resources.
Can you stop typing like a complete jackass? Randomising the size and bolding of your words doesn't mean your point is right, it makes you look like a 10 year old.

In the same way that people yell in order to get their point across, I've increased the size, and capitalized the text.
It's the most effective way to get across the idea that I probably would be yelling in real life.
yeah, that's a good debate technique, and what you were yelling about, yeah, that totally made sense just cause you're yelling
yeah, that's a good debate technique, and what you were yelling about, yeah, that totally made sense just cause you're yelling
This clearly isn't a debate - no one would be absurd enough to argue those points. It should make sense because it's correct, I'm yelling because it appears self evident. Is the Venus Project feasible? Do we have an infinite source of cheap energy? [ ] Yes [x] No

Surely humanity isn't content to reach such a level, and then simply call it a day? I'd say we have more potential? That's deeply insulting not only to me, but to every single person on the planet.
