If they help the host they're no longer parasitic are they?
Pretty sure a parasite that helps its host is a symbiote.
I have a good chance of developing this as I have close relatives on both sides of my family with it. I will cry if I am diagnosed :( But I don't know if I like the thought of worms living in my gut...
They infected half of them with live human hookworms. The parasites burrowed into participants' skin and entered the bloodstream after being applied to the forearm. They then traveled via the lungs to the gut where they happily colonized.
Holy shit, that sounds really fucking scary. Cool discovery though, I know a young girl who I think may have this otherwise incurable disease.
If they fix shit, then let 'em in if you ask me.
I wonder how effective insertion through the urethra would be.
I wonder how those worms react to antibiotics.
These people posting that you'd do this happily, you do realize that hook worms are nasty fuckers that can cause a range of health problems?
I want a colony of worms inside of me :saddowns: Fucking gluten intolerants getting all the special treatment :argh:
Very relevant and I want you guys to listen to it. http://audio.wnyc.org/radiolab/radiolab092509a.mp3
I for one welcome our new parasitic brethren. :science:
How so? I'm not an expert, but aren't they around the same size?
Most certainly not. The compare the hookworms in that picture to thr size of the villi they lie in. That's very small. Now compare that to the mighty tapeworm:
I saw this yesterday, but couldn't bring myself into clicking into it. I have some sort of phobia of a lot of visible parasites. That includes worms, tics, leeches, and lice. I literally have nightmares aobut pubic lice. I mean come on. They're near your dick, and they suck blood for fuck sake. So I made myself click into this for the sake of knowledge, and all I can say is fuck. that.
