Then what is your problem with this? People are not gonna walk out of the movie for a refill.

You can do both?
Yea, actually a lot of people do walk out of the movie for a refill. And I do niot understand in what way you mean your second comment.
I remember this. they limit the sizes of coffee and fuit shakes too. but milkshakes are not banned according to sizes. :v:

Seriously? That's fucking retarded, being an annoyance to everyone in the theater trying to watch a movie, for a fucking sugar fix.

Well If the theater isn't crowded or they are sitting near the edge it really inst a big deal, to me at least.
I love being disturbed while trying to watch something I paid 11$ for (well not really because I have a subscription but it's still annoying as fuck).
Because people like food. Why do people feel a need to watch movies? Ban movies.
But you don't need to eat 24/7. You can survive 1.5-3 hours without coke and popcorn.
by a large soda what are we talking about, a US fatty measurement with those super sizes? Or is it a normal large cup for the rest of the world?
US Fatty

You can also survive 1.5-3 hours without sitting down, why do we need seats? It just about fucking comfort and having fun.

But I don't want to hear you eating and drinking.

Going to the movies is about relaxing and enjoying yourself for the length of the movie. I know this may be an absolutely foreign concept to you, but some people like eating snacks while chilling out.
Even if you can still get refills or buy two drinks or whatever, the ban is still a problem because it's a waste of resources.
Time and money could be spent passing something that is actually beneficial to society. Rather than something that will have no effect on anything other than pissing people off.
The people who write these laws should become heath instructers instead? Doy ou not know how administration works? Everyone has a very special section. You can't just say "hey guys who wrote the ban and made sure it is according to thousands of other laws please go and promote health education instead"

It is just a bad tradition that stems from the fact that popcorn is easily made and supplied, especially in the US. Think of it: Why do you enjoy popcorn instead of, kets say, slices of carrot or little tomatoe pieces or whatever?
Because it developed that way, because this food is cheaper than healthy food.
whats to stop people bringing in their own 1L bottle
or consuming it at home
this was met with all the good intentions i'm sure, but it's a horrifically stupid way to go about fulfilling them

This is not made to stop people. It is made to make it more inconvenient.

it is a very minor inconvenience if anything

Its hard to understand because you just responded "you can do both?" when I suggested promoting health programs and looking into effective method. I cant magically know in what way you mean that, perhaps trying putting it in context next time.

Most cinema's will refuse to let you take in your own food.

freedom and liberty huh
Most cinema's will refuse to let you take in your own food.
backpack, back pocket.
I wish they'd just standardize a small or medium size that's actually reasonable or something.
Small is what large used to be and everything above that spirals off into lunacy.
I live in NYC and this is a really stupid idea, but whatever I could just settle with a medium than.
Aaaaaaand in other news I couldn't care less!

It's not like they check.
I brought a big ass bottle of root beer in when I went to see the Dark Knight Rises, and I'm pretty sure if the guy actually looked before I went in he'd realize that big ass bulge in my pocket wasn't because I was happy to see him.
prohibition always works well IDK what you guys are on about
No shit not many people actually buy over 8oz sodas at the movies but if I want to, I should damn well be able to. See if we don't oppose this they'll just think it's okay to put more restrictions on things in the future.
How about we axe corn subsidies instead? That would actually accomplish something.
Oh right. Unions.
Never mind. Carry on then.
Buying large sodas at NYC movie theaters
good joke

uh no corn gets subsides because of huge food corporations. And are you suggesting the city of new york end corn subsides? that's a little beyond their abilities.
Uh, I dunno, I kinda like this.
It's overpriced shit anyways. Movie theaters should allow people to bring in their own drinks and snacks. Does most of their revenue really come from selling over priced popcorn and drinks?
Actually, yes, although not large theaters. We have a 3 screen theater here that a friend of the family owns now, and she told us that she hardly gets any money from ticket sales and gets most from snacks and drinks. The best part of her owning the place is the occasional free movie when she's there.
The best way to stop obesity in NYC is to wait it out
Eventually all the fat old people on mobility scooters will die out and be replaced with fresh urban youths
