Can't they use wiki leaks to draw out terrorists or maybe even kill each other by making a random terrorist a spy...Yes I know this is real life...
But one thing I don't understand is why the file is 1.4 Gb. All those 75k Afghan War Diary didn't even take up that much.
Its obvious he accidentally uploading 1.4 gigs of porn instead of military documents. In all seriousness, the title "insurance" worries me.
It's the same exact thing as the War Diary, refer to my above post.
This reminds me of Dan Brown's Digital Fortress.
the file is a picture of my dick

the file is a picture of gabe newell
icwatudidthar
It's the same exact thing as the War Diary, refer to my above post.
Why the hell would they encrypt it then?
Wikileaks bout to drop a Bomb. STAND THE FUCK BACK.
Hahahaha fucking idoits. The Insurance file is actually the torrent file they uploaded onto the The Pirates Bay (http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5723136) It's the same exact thing as the Afghan War Diary. It was created as torrent to get as many people as possible to possess the documents in case they were/hacked deleted. Hence the name "Insurance". And it was posted long ago.
Then why encrypt it? And that diary doesn't take that much of space. And uploader is anonymous [editline]04:47PM[/editline] Why so sure that anonymous is not wikileaks itself
I cracked it guys The file contains photos taken from hidden cameras in the Pentagon bathroom millions of them
Say, this is probably just wild speculation, but what if the package is some kinda trap, that releases a computer virus when decoded? If this were true, it'd surely be retributional or something, and an act of cyber warfare...
Then why encrypt it? And that diary doesn't take that much of space. And uploader is anonymous [editline]04:47PM[/editline] Why so sure that anonymous is not wikileaks itself
The link to the torrent is on Wikileaks.org....
Why the hell would they encrypt it then?

"I think it's better that we don't comment on that," Assange said, according to the network's transcript of the interview. "But, you know, one could imagine in a similar situation that it might be worth ensuring that important parts of history do not disappear."
It is for when Wikileaks gets taken down, this is possibly a backup of all the things they have leaked, not just the war diary.
And if it's the same thing, why are they staying so mum about it?.
Say, this is probably just wild speculation, but what if the package is some kinda trap, that releases a computer virus when decoded?
The link to the torrent is on Wikileaks.org....
So what? That doesn't make any sense
Say, this is probably just wild speculation, but what if the package is some kinda trap, that releases a computer virus when decoded?
So what? That doesn't make any sense
You raised doubt it was even apart of WL
Hahahaha fucking idoits. And it was posted long ago.
Nope, it's actually a new file. I'll change it in the op, it was actually uploaded like a week ago, but taken down then reuplokaded.
My guess is that Assange set this shit up so if anything happens to him or WL the all of contents of that package will be dumped on to the net. You clever bastard.
It's obviously a dead hand type thing. Anything happens to him or a trigger event happens then the password is released and people he knows and trusts let rip and suddenly... The US is in an incredibly deep hole thats progressively being filled with more and more of their own shit.
I am guessing US is trying to pry that file open as fast as they can.
Why the hell would they encrypt it then?
You can choose to publish it by Wikileaks or first publish it yourself and then to Wikileaks(If you get killed or etc it still gets out). So it could contain some new stuff.
I am guessing US is trying to pry that file open as fast as they can.
Except it's pretty much impossible seeing as it's supposed to have an AES-256bit encryption.
Hopefully it isn't too weighted. But if it does show the future operation plans, then something needs to be done about Wikileaks. That is unacceptable.
End the war, and no, i don't want to hear otherwise.
A quantum computer could crack it in infinite time but the time wouldn't exist either it would simply give you the right answer right away fuck if I know how it works
pretty sure that this is the guys life insurance. fuckin governments... this man is a damn hero, he makes me proud to be a human being.
Feels like were living a hollywood movie or something, kinda like enemy of the state.
as for bruteforcing this (problem 1 ofcourse is how do you know when you have the correct key, since we have no idea about the plaintext) distributed.net has been going at an rc5-72 key (which is a significant faster algorhitm then aes) for 2799 days (done 0.947% of the keyspace) and predicts it needs atmost 47,429 days (about 133 years) to search the complete keyspace. Now lets for the sake of argument lets assume aes and rc5 as just as fast (which they are not) for every bit above 72 (thats 184) multiply those 133 years by 2. Giving us 133 * (2^184) = 3261150510962611490586562473775857942740676852006705430528 *YEARS* Even if computing power 100.000 folds in the next few years the odds of bruteforcing this before the universe ends are still virtually *ZERO*
Just so the not-so-knowing people know.
They've been in the news a lot lately. Wonder if they'll get shut down?
With a name like "Insurance", I'm guessing that if the US tries to shut Wikileaks down, someone will release the key and then all Hell will break loose
