I'd piss myself if some random internet geek cracked it in like a week.
RSA incription was invented in the 70s. Trust me, if no one cracked it untill now-no one will. Also, bruteforcing this would take loads of computing power to do in reasonable time, even with all of the none-supercomuters today combined you would not be able to crack it in like a bajillion years. [editline]09:37PM[/editline]
They have made system that, everyday they should click a special button which keeps key from posting itself to public automatically
OK then, execute all wikileaks employees and destroy all of their computers.
What? It have to be 256char long and in hexademical [editline]11:23PM[/editline] And just a FYI, it uses algorithm which is in key to decrypt, so it's impossible without actually knowing key. [editline]11:24PM[/editline] You guys better forget about "cracking" it [editline]11:30PM[/editline] I meant, key is not like "password", it's algorithm
Ok then.
OK then, execute all wikileaks employees and destroy all of their computers.
It's not stored in their office :downs:
To people saying "hurr well you could get it by chance" The key is along the lines of 103F0349B034920EC09302309BEFCA09C09C003240239400B009312309132E but more random and 256 characters long. It's literally impossible to crack with current (or perceivable future) technology.
Isn't there some theory / rumour / general paranoia that the NSA can crack RSA or that there's a backdoor in it.
It's not stored in their office :downs:
who cares, execute them all anyways. it's not like they've done anything good.
Then why encrypt it? And that diary doesn't take that much of space. And uploader is anonymous [editline]04:47PM[/editline] Why so sure that anonymous is not wikileaks itself
publicity stunt
You guys better forget about "cracking" it
Well running some calculations it would take 416 years per round (5824 years in total for a 14 round AES256) if a Related Key attack was performed using every single PS3 sold so far running flat out (2 TFlops). That's assuming every calculation was the generation of a 256bit Hex key Just imagine if the top 500 fastest super computers joined that pool  It may be impossible in our lifetime but it's still possible "before the universe ends".
We should start it now so that people in 5123423424324 AD can possibly learn about the Afghan War.
Isn't there some theory / rumour / general paranoia that the NSA can crack RSA or that there's a backdoor in it.
RSA uses an a-symmetrical method that relies on prime numbers. if some can make it symmetric (you will have to be a genius though, because no civilian mathematician managed to do it so far) it would be cracked. Either that, or they invented a quantum computer that can basically just bruteforce it in a very short time. Or they didn't manage to crack it at all and it's all a load of donkey balls.

Time to move the Canada. brb
What if they are bluffing, and "insurance" is nothing at all? What if they're just using it to stop the government from shutting them down or something?
Time to move the Canada. brb
Why? [editline]11:56AM[/editline]
What if they are bluffing, and "insurance" is nothing at all? What if they're just using it to stop the government from shutting them down or something?
Then I guess they're pretty clever.
Why? [editline]11:56AM[/editline] Then I guess they're pretty clever.
Because I hate the US and the guy leaking this shit should be put to death for treason.
What if it contains gay porn? :ninja:
you seem to really like the idea that this might contain gay porn
What if it contains gay porn? :ninja:
mv insurance.aes256 /user/Baldr/xxx/
Why do americans think US of A is the only country in the world? The website isn't american and has no obligations to usa.
And this has anything to do with this topic how?
But one thing I don't understand is why the file is 1.4 Gb. All those 75k Afghan War Diary didn't even take up that much.
There is random padding added, obviously, to help with obfuscation.
And all you have to do is not only guess, but decrypt file with every brute forced algorithm and check which one looks like some real file [editline]11:51PM[/editline] ITT: We discuss cryptography
True, factor in those extra instructions and the number of years shoots through the roof Generating enough keys is possible within hundreds/thousands of years But without horribly streamlined hardware to perform the decryption at the same speed you might as well load up the software and have a child hammer away at the keyboard.
Why? [editline]11:56AM[/editline] Then I guess they're pretty clever.
I would do it if I were them/him.
Because I hate the US and the guy leaking this shit should be put to death for treason.
He is not American and he has no obligations to usa.
People still haven't told me how Wikileaks has aided anyone. The fact that they "stick it to the man" and "have the balls to do what others don't" doesn't benefit you, me or anyone in ANY way. I'm waiting.
They released a list of websites secretly censored by the Finnish government none of which were illegal, and one of which was a blog dedicated for speaking against internet censorship.
execute every single employee of wikileaks problem solved
You'd have to kill them all at once.

Maybe we can sap the file.
Just wanted to get it clear for you guys what cryptography is:
WHAT ARE YOU IMPLYING?! :argh:
;)
Someone hide the file in a .jpg of the FBI seal and upload it to Wikipedia.
