Abstraction is the easiest way to dehumanize your opponents. That's why we use it. It makes it easier to see your own side as "right," because you're not considering the individual facets of the opposition.
This is literally high school debate club-level stuff. If you're arguing against an abstraction, you're not arguing against anybody other than yourself.

He's using an abstraction to describe a group of people, which he says others shouldn't do. It's the definition of hypocrisy....
Language works in some ways, and not others.
To wit, I'm a journalist. What do you expect?
I think we've reached the point of 'kneejerk reaction' now.
Removing it from historical movies or games is just plain stupid.

"Language arbitrarily just happens to work how I need it to work for my argument, but I can't explain why..."
I know why you're saying what you are. You are of the belief that the term "SJW" paints all social justice advocates in a bad light, but that's not the case.
Social Justice Warriors have the same relationship to Social Justice Advocates as Feminazis do to Feminists. SJWs are extremist SJAs, like Feminazis are extremist Feminists. By not letting these extremists be labeled under a different group, you're including them with the more reasonable and logical social justice advocates, and hurting everyone as a whole. By separating them, you are preventing extremists from hurting a good thing.
So people who don't want the term "SJW" being used because they believe in social justice are actually hurting their own cause by not separating themselves from the bad apples.

The issue IMO is that even reasonable people seem to get lumped in with the "bad apples" whenever the term SJW gets thrown around. It's the exact opposite effect from what you're describing.
Also, did you know that the term "Feminazi" was de-facto coined by Rush Limbaugh in a rant where he compared abortion to a baby Holocaust? Food for thought.
I prefer to call the most obnoxious feminists what they really are: feminazis. Tom Hazlett, a good friend who is an esteemed and highly regarded professor of economics at the University of California at Davis, coined the term to describe any female who is intolerant of any point of view that challenges militant feminism. I often use it to describe women who are obsessed with perpetuating a modern-day holocaust: abortion. There are 1.5 million abortions a year, and some feminists almost seem to celebrate that figure. There are not many of them, but they deserve to be called feminazis.
A feminazi is a woman to whom the most important thing in life is seeing to it that as many abortions as possible are performed. Their unspoken reasoning is quite simple. Abortion is the single greatest avenue for militant women to exercise their quest for power and advance their belief that men aren't necessary. They don't need men in order to be happy. They certainly don't want males to be able to exercise any control over them. Abortion is the ultimate symbol of women's emancipation from the power and influence of men. -- Rush Limbaugh
I don't know where you got this idea from. That's definitely not the case on this forum, most people who use the term here are progressive themselves.
Once again you complain about our choice of word but I don't see you propose any alternative.

Who gives a shit? Words can change overtime and that some asshole coined the word doesn't make anybody who use it an asshole as well. Again you lend so much importance to words that you don't pay attention to their meaning.
You seem to be incapable of reading anyway, the very text you quoted outright says that Rush Limbaugh isn't the person who coined the term.
