HACK WAR IS A GO!
Also I'm pretty sure a hacker team can't take down lulzsec if the FBI can't.
the FBI isn't as good as you think they are, i mean sure their certified to do this kind of thing but their are better hackers out there than the FBI
thankgod.
I don't find this funny at all...I read the entire article and it's incredibly depressing. A woman who deeply loves her son but has no idea how to connect with him despite her best efforts over the years (due to his numerous psychological issues that prevent him from functioning normally) is watching helplessly as he faces the possibility of a fatal sentence.
Maybe I'm hypersensitive to these circumstances because my relationship with my mom suffered terribly over the course of a few years for several reasons and I still remember the day in which she articulated how helpless she felt in trying to connect with me as a person and friend.
This is tragedy, people. Not comedy.
Yeah, I kind of felt the same way. As cruel the guy was to others through LulzSec, the kid had his own issues and family life problems surrounding him. He tried to commit suicide once when he was 10, he was an agoraphobic and ADD-sufferer with a bipolar mom. Even though his condition is probably a bit of an extreme, a lot of Anonymous raiders, "hackers," trolls and etc. really fall under similar circumstances.
Not that that justifies their actions - there's plenty of teens in similar situations who don't use the internet to punish others because of their own problems - but it at least adds some insight and understanding.
He's facing a death sentence in the US? The fuck?
... how did I just miss a whole bit about a death sentence? god, I'm blind.
If they cant wrap it up in a day they never will wrap them up any time soon, they might be skiddies but they know how to protect themselves. The person arrested might be remotely part of lulzsec but this is a /b/ fork he doesn't have any info on the other members.
The boy who hacked DTRA and the NASA servers (both internal servers not shitty websites) got 6 months house arrest. I am sure he'll be fine.

But how can you kill that which has no life?
Anyway, on a serious note, how did it get to a death sentence!?
He's not literally facing a death sentence. He's so mentally unstable that going to the US will probably lead to him killing himself, or at least having a mental collapse.
Snip fuck it I cant explain it all anyway read yourselves damnit.

So the guy who got arrested runs ed.ch? I guess that makes sense...
Lulzsec released AZ law enforcement files.

Espionage charges.
Here is a site that explains crimes where you can get the death penalty when not committing murder.

Facepunch was fucking up earlier but here you go. It says he's working with them
Also they aren't going to murder him, lock him up yeah but they're saying he's going to kill himself if he gets the chance because he's a little spastic shit head.
"Defence lawyer Ben Cooper said of Cleary: 'He has been assisting with police inquiries so far and is keen to continue doing so.'"
"...while officers searched the house and a computer expert spent four hours on his computer. His hard drive as well as his mother’s laptop was seized."
Only a matter of time.

Until what, he tries "an heroing"? Well, his mother wasn't the one who took his precious computer away from him.

Death penalty for rape? Rape is a sickening and disgusting crime... but the death penalty? That's really harsh.

If the guy rapes and brutally beats a bunch of women :v:

I believe it is usually saved for people who rape minors.
News, that kid who was pulled in really was a member of Lulzsec. They found a ton of shit on his computer and he's ratting out the other members to try to reduce his sentence :v:
If they all get caught because the kid knew all of their identities its a big flaw on their part.
Should've gone Reservoir Dogs style and only know each other by handles in case of this happening.
I'd still be happy if they're all arrested though.

They probably don't but maybe they know where they are location wise.

You'd think that if you led an infamous "hacktivist" group you's be clever enough to hide your shit better.

Bare in mind though that there's a reason why most of those crimes have fared with barely any executions. They exist more to scare people from acting on the crime than to actually punish.

well we already knew that, because they linked him to the attack on a British site, one that a day before lulzsec said "tango down" too. Unless Lulzsec is lying, which their fanboys wouldn't like.
It's amazing how much factually incorrect stuff you can read in the newspapers (even the broadsheets like The Times/Guardian) about this stuff.
It feels like they were trying their best to understand something totally beyond their ken and didn't quite get there.
Other than that, it seems like they see "lulz" as some kind of freak new internet culture, instead of "being an asshole because it's funny", a concept that probably predates the wheel.

Oh, and Bioware's old forums got hacked. I got an email about it. :C I changed my email and bioware forums password but I have a bad feeling I might have used it for other stuff.
[editline]24th June 2011[/editline]
Not sure it has anything to do with Lulzsec, but it's annoying either way.
