how long did it take for someone to call 911
From a landline phone, all she would have to do is dial 911 and the call would be routed to the local 911 dispatch. The the name, age, and address of the telephone line subscriber would show up on the 911 dispatcher's computer, so she wouldn't even have to speak (a lot of times they'll send an officer to check if they get a 911 call with no answer).
When dialing 911 from a cell phone, however, it doesn't work as quickly. Since cell phones are, by nature, mobile, there is no way to determine where the call should be routed to, so it's routed to a public safety answering point (PSAP) instead of the local police station. The caller would then have to explain the emergency and their location to the dispatcher at the PSAP, and the dispatcher would then have to relay that information to the local 911 dispatch at the police station, or transfer the caller to their local police station so they can explain their emergency and location all over again.
Since a lot of people are actually cancelling landline phone services because they use their cell phones more, its likely she didn't have a home phone service, and dialing 911 from a cell phone would have wasted a lot of time.

Shit son, you're one edgy motherfucker
The situation was that she tweeted instead of calling 911. Though my comment was directed at those people who were advocating that tweeting was a reasonable thing to do.
You cant say what her best course of action would have been unless you had all the details from her perspective. The fact that she was kidnapped and nothing was stolen means that they came in purely to get her, its entirely possible that she was on twitter at the time and heard someone coming.
In that case leaving a message on twitter is better than attempting to call 911 and not getting a chance to say anything.

No I mean like how long did it take for someone to see that tweet and not think it's a joke. Not how long it took for someone to get through all the redirects and stuff.

also congrats rrunyan for most futile snip of 2012
For one the tweet doesn't appear to be from a mobile phone, so she was likely at a desktop or something. If she happened to have left her phone downstairs her options would be pretty limited actually. Considering the most popular phone-from-desktop applications like skype and google voice don't allow for calls to 911, it was the most reasonable and possible solution from the most likely scenario
Using skype would've been smarter even if you couldn't call 911, you can still chat with your friends and tell them to call 911. Tweeting literally does nothing but waste time.

I explained this on the first page. Most people wouldn't have a landline phone in every room of their home, but would carry their cell phone with them. If she dialed 911 from her cell phone, it would have wasted a lot of time she clearly didn't have.

Is it just me, or are the people(?) in that photo's eyes glowing red?

You claim she didn't have time, but how do you know? All she needed was 3-4 minutes or less to do a 911 call from her cell phone. I'm just saying calling 911 is smarter than tweeting it. Please argue how tweeting is a better alternative.
I encourage the dumb raters to post rather than toss around mindless ratings without reading the thread.

how do you know she did have time?
none of us could possibly know what went down so there's literally no way of proving what was "best" for her even if someone in her situation could be expected to act rationally
She looks like a massive bitch from her tweets.

there is no fucking point in arguing over why she chose to tweet so everyone shut up about it

I'm not saying what the best thing is, I'm saying that tweeting about it is dumb. Do you disagree?
If she had no time, use your time to grab a blunt object, climb out a window, hide, do something helpful.
If she had time, call the police or a friend. Establish a direct means of communication.

it shouldn't take a genius to look at her tweets and see she isn't the sharpest tool in the shed
I sort of get the impression, from the picture and her tweets, that something or someone was stalking/following her, possibly because of how big a bitch she was.

Na, but I know what not to do: tweet about it.
it's pretty disgusting how a lot of you choose to judge her ENTIRE character and intelligence over her tweets. a lot of my friends/people I know use twitter as a way to vent their frustrations and they are amazing people in person.
You guys are aware that all you have to do is dial 911, hang up and a patrol car will show up right? That is assuming she has a phone close by though, maybe tweeting was really the best option at the time but it still seems really fishy.

Calling someone a gay slut doesn't make you look good. If I don't judge you off of what you say, then what else do I judge you on? Your looks? She don't look too smart neither.
It isn't right to talk about, I do feel bad for her, but its the internet. Expect this stuff.

you are aware that thats not how it works on a cell phone
right?
