• Hurricane Matthew to Strike Florida as C4 Hurricane, Get Ready To Die!

I'm in southeast va and local news is talking like we're about to be hit with a storm of the century.
As a resident of the Melbourne, FL area, I saw bring it on. My new house is a hurricane fortress built on the highest pad in the county. Now we just need to make sure Duke Energy doesn't choke on a dick like they do with far more minor events... The other states making this out to be some new historical disaster are way overreacting. Everyone in the Carolina's gets these half the time Florida does, they all ride north on the coast.
Nassau here, shits locked up tighter then a daughter on prom night over here...
Update from SC: Evacuations are still happening, I got lucky and got out late last night to my hometown, just outside the 100mi zone. It's good they started them this far in advance, since all last night on the interstate traffic was bumper-to-bumper from Charleston all the way to Columbia for hours on end. I feel bad for anyone evacuating today, is it'll likely be even more congested. I did see a few National Guard vehicles on the way out though, so they're definitely taking this seriously.
I'm in Raleigh NC. No warnings, just clouds for now. Hurricane is expected to arrive during fall break so everyone is just gonna stay inside.

In Columbia everyone is freaking out expecting SC floods 2: Electric Boogaloo. Looks like it's turning away though?

At least ya'll are on the west side of the storm. The thing is, after Katrina, Ike, and Sandy, no governor wants to be on the wrong side of history in predicting the damage. They'll always overstate the impact.

Matthew had top sustained winds of 120 mph, a Category 3 hurricane, Wednesday afternoon and could strengthen in coming days, the center said. "People have less than 24 hours to prepare," Florida Gov. Rick Scott warned. "Having a plan could be the difference between life and death." At least 11 deaths have been attributed to the powerful storm as it has marched across the Caribbean this week, at least five of them in Haiti. With a key bridge washed out there, roads impassable and phone communications down, there was no further word on the dead or injured. Wednesday afternoon the storm was about 70 miles south of the Bahamas, heading northwest at 12 mph. Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina declared states of emergency ahead of the most powerful storm to rock the Atlantic basin since Hurricane Felix killed more than 100 people, most in Nicaragua, in 2007. Evacuations were underway in Florida and South Carolina. The entire east coast of Florida was under some kind of hurricane or tropical storm warning or watch. A warning means the storm conditions are expected within 36 hours, a watch means the conditions are possible within 48 hours. On Wednesday, the more sobering warning was expanded and stretched from Miami to Daytona Beach. "The combination of a dangerous storm surge and the tide will cause normally dry areas near the coast to be flooded," the hurricane center warned. "There is a danger of life-threatening inundation." Scott warned residents to prepare for power outages and evacuations. A mandatory evacuation of Brevard County's barrier island was set to begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Satellite Beach City Manager Courtney Barker announced on her city Facebook page. The evacuation also includes Merritt Island, low-lying flood-prone areas and mobile or manufactured homes. "This is a unique and dangerous hurricane. People need to take evasive action," said Don Walker, spokesman for Brevard County's Emergency Management Office. Scott said 500 National Guard members were called up for the storm, with 6,000 ready to join the fray if needed. Schools and government offices along the coast were shut down as the region braced for Matthew's fury.
I live on the gulf but i am preparing just in case
Im in Savannah and there hasn't been any warnings or anything yet, my university has shut down all services for the rest of the week just in case. Strangely enough Chatham county has issued a voluntary evacuation that specifically excludes Savannah.

New track as of 5PM [IMG_THUMB]http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/storm_graphics/AT14/refresh/AL1416W5_NL+gif/153139W5_NL_sm.gif[/IMG_THUMB] It still has two days to strengthen some more and NOAA is still showing it almost making landfall near cocoa beach as at least a Category 4. The last one that was somewhat close to this one was Frances in 2004? If you're in that Red Area(Like me!) Best be prepared.

I'm in college in daytona beach and just went shopping for some food and shit. The grocery store was packed and the aisle with water was like completely bare lol. From the looks of the tracking I'll be right in the thick of it when it hits. I hope I die
Holy shit it looks like it's going to hit Florida twice
Holy shit it looks like it's going to hit Florida twice
It'll be much weaker the second time around, but if it came while Duke Energy is still working on the lines they would be forced to delay their work. 18z GFS model showing it more West is pretty alarming, I'm somewhat prepared for this storm in Deltona but getting the North East winds of the eye wall would really suck. Interested to see what the Euro models show tonight along with the updated GFS.
i feel sorry for all of you meanwhile here in barbados we're just chillin'
I have family in the Miramar/Miami area, heard it's gonna hit there p badly, I really hope they come out okay. Fuck hurricanes man
I have family in the Miramar/Miami area, heard it's gonna hit there p badly, I really hope they come out okay. Fuck hurricanes man
It's probably not going to hit Miami or that region all that hard unless there is an even bigger west shift. (Not that people there shouldn't be getting prepared, this storm has been highly unpredictable). Right now the areas that should be majorly concerned are Jacksonville down to Palm Bay, but also maybe even as far south as Port St. Lucie or West Palm Beach. CFL along that strip should be on the look out as well.
Right now the areas that should be majorly concerned are Jacksonville
Shit like this is why I'm hoping that something will happen last minute and it'll start veering to the east, kinda like Floyd did. If not, RIP me I guess
Shit like this is why I'm hoping that something will happen last minute and it'll start veering to the east, kinda like Floyd did. If not, RIP me I guess
I'd watch out for flooding more than anything when it starts getting near the Georgia/Florida bend where Jacksonville is situated. Even if it veers east that coastal bend is going to be susceptible to major flooding, the St. Johns River probably won't fair any better.
ponce inlet here, gonna be a blast. sticking around to scare off looters since i live on the corner and people have already been seen casing houses, figure worst case i die horribly, best case i get a free foot bath.

According to a lot of sources, the winds going to be a bit worse than a tropical storm for me. Thankfully had a generator in the shed out back, and a bunch of water and canned foods saved up in case shit hits the fan.
FL, St. Johns county here. Bracing for hurricane bendover. Work is closed for the next two days, guess I'll just catch up on animu & shows till the power goes out. I have food, water, cash batteries etc, I just hope the flooding isn't so bad that it'll creep into my condo. I just bought this place dammit.
All my local news is reporting its going to do a fucking LOOP. Its COMING BACK after this. Fuck me. I live right near the coast.

Ugh, one of my closest friends lives in Vero Beach. I'm pretty worried for him, though apparently his family is evacuating to somewhere further inland just to be safe.
