Holy shit it might do a fucking loop de loop
That sucks for Florida. [editline]5th October 2016[/editline] Wait shit don't go into the Gulf noooo.
It's turning around what the fuck?

Should note that there's clearly no consensus on the models. Looks like there's a stationary front that's corralling it south of the east coast. Guess some models are thinking that front is going to make it curve back around. There's probably some other factors into it as well. Pretty neat.
I attend college in Daytona Beach, since it looks like it's gonna be hit dead on I decided to head inland instead of taking my chances there. University didn't make a final decision to cancel classes until last night, also didn't issue an evac order but most people I talked to have decided to leave.
it's looking to hit more head on at 6pm today and possibly make landfall across Florida; stay safe everyone!
It's also threatening to rev up again into a Cat 4 or 5.

im so not prepared, hopefully since I live in 'zone d' for evacuations in jacksonville, I should be fine
Fuck, they think Matthew could go out into the ocean and combine into trop storm Nicole after hitting everything
Here's hoping people stay safe and that the damage is recoverable
live in a hurricane warning spot witness me (tbh no one honestly gives a shit here on my facebook and stuff)
live in a hurricane warning spot witness me (tbh no one honestly gives a shit here on my facebook and stuff)
I think it's because it's been so long since a hurricane that people here just aren't thinking it's gonna be that bad, I hope so but still
My aunt in florida says most of the shelves at the stores are bare empty. I hope this loop doesnt happen that will fuck them up [editline]6th October 2016[/editline]
That sucks for Florida.
It'll be much weaker the second time around, but if it came while Duke Energy is still working on the lines they would be forced to delay their work. 18z GFS model showing it more West is pretty alarming, I'm somewhat prepared for this storm in Deltona but getting the North East winds of the eye wall would really suck.
oh shit you live in Deltona? im in DeLand right now and shit is crazy around here, people at the gas station were visibly stressed and freaking out yesterday Stay safe all my fellow Volusia FPers, which according to this thread is way more people than I realized :v:
Well the mandatory evacuation order has arrived.

This is scary actually. Like this could be our Katrina for the decade.
This is scary actually. Like this could be our Katrina for the decade.
we have no dams that can break and flood a entire city we can overfill lakes/rivers tho, which is why everyone along st johns, black creek, and doctors lake is getting evacd where i live i dont live near a river tho and my county is like "do whatever, but we encourage evac" so im stayin here for the whole event. worst thing that happened to me in a hurricane is the power went out for 3 days. no damage or anything
The only hurricane known to have made landfall in Florida north of Port St. Lucie while maintaining Category 3 strength is Dora, which arrived with 125-mph sustained winds near St. Augustine in September 1964. It’s actually more common for hurricanes to strike the northern half of Florida’s coast after having traveled across the state—as was the case with Donna (1960) and Charley (2004), both of which entered the Atlantic just north of Palm Coast. The most recent major hurricane along the Georgia coast was in 1898.
https://www.wunderground.com/blog/JeffMasters/matthew-raking-bahamas-could-be-first-major-hurricane-for-floridas Here's all of them since 1851. Even Florida should pucker for this one.
it will taste blood and come back around
it will taste blood and come back around
If it does the loop it looks like it's going to fizzle out into a tropical storm. In that case, if it does a full loop-de-loop (as in goes back north) It'll probably die before making landfall again. If it makes it's way into the Caribbean again it might reboost into a Hurricane. God forbid it finds it's way into the gulf. /Anecdotal predictions. [editline]6th October 2016[/editline] Wunderground is reporting category 4 wind speeds again. Welcome back.
I'm on the west coast of FL. Not exactly sure how bad it'll be here, but I'm gonna prepare some stuff anyways.
Its insulting how awful these state ran websites are. It was easier to find my road on google maps and compare it to the evac zone map than using the official "Find Your Zone" site
Our university closed all classes from yesterday to Sunday. All residence halls have been evacuated. Sheesh
In Jacksonville and going to be in the thick of it. Keep you guys posted? Well, I should say we're debating whether to stay or go.
I'm in jacksonville aswell. Will try to post updates.

Im talking about the severity of this storm. It could be as bad wind and rain wise as Katrina. but flood waters wise thats irrelevant.
They're telling us to evacuate but I already bought water and food so I'm most likely staying.
I'm in Palm Beach County. We got shutters up, powerbanks, got our yard cleared and such. Wonder how it will compare to Wilma who hit us like a bitch around here.
