No, he's not implying that at all. He's implying that Apple is just going to move to more proprietary crap, whereas moving to USB 3.0 and HDMI was a move from an old standard to an improved one. So USB 3.0 and HDMI aren't planned obsolescence (just a natural consequence of improved standards), but Apple's dock is (because it's intentionally obtuse).
