tbh geek squad is genuinely a pretty huge scam I don't think anyone should have any hesitation to avoid their massive bullshit service Everyone would be better off of GS went out of business. Common sense fixes become "No, you have to spend $$$ on a new HDD + repair fee's" or some shit and they'll also install malware tier shitware on the new hdd, instead of something like "Nah, the SATA cable is just bad. 2$ fix if not cheaper"
One of my clients went to Geek Squad at one point and whoever worked on their computer left the disc they use. It even has instructions on what to do, I'll give you a hint on what most of them are, it rhymes with "delete all your data"
Currys PC World in the UK is likely not much better I used to work for them and a few times was given the task to pre-setup around 20-30 laptops and re-box them ready to be sold as 'Ready to go'. All I had to do was turn on the laptop, click express settings and create a user called 'User' so it would go straight to the desktop once turned on. This would cost you £50 extra. It's a scummy exploited market that really needs to be investigated across the board. They also do repairs like this but charge you out the ass for even having a look.
