What are you even saying? Who is the enemy? What compromise is being made?
Why are you uncomfortable with it? What are YOU doing exactly that makes you uncomfortable about being recorded?
If you aren't doing anything wrong or suspicious, then what's the problem?
That's along the lines of saying that if I'm not a criminal, I should be fine with getting my car or house searched without my OK. I don't like people going through my personal things. I'm not saying that the gubberment is spying on all of us to round us up in their fema death camps, it's just a personal privacy issue for me.

But these aren't personal things, this is as public as you can get. Unless you're on the street screaming your SSN, most people don't reveal much when they're in the subway.

People like the guy who says "Thank god for crazy people" after a potentially deadly shooting? You guys are siding with that guy, like it or not. That guy has a job still, a good salary and is probably quite comfortable with his life and the decisions he makes, and it's certainly not cause of people like me.

If you're at a high value site, expect to have people watching you. Essentially what you're saying is you expect them to put your desire for complete privacy in public over the lives of the people who work at the high value target. It's never going to happen.

What the fuck are you even talking about?

I never mentioned the search of ones house or car...
How do you even get onto something like that when I asked about PUBLIC places?
None of your "personal privacy" is being invaded by having this camera system.
We've been telling you this for quite some time now.
If you're at a high value site, expect to have people watching you.
My trip to DC almost the first thing I saw was a rooftop with two guys in black holding what looked to be sniper rifles.

I think that it's personal because it identifies everybody it records, which is different from just recording a face
People like the guy who says "Thank god for crazy people" after a potentially deadly shooting? You guys are siding with that guy, like it or not. What are you even saying? He's probably a PR guy. He isn't some Wallstreet Banker, he's a random guy hired by the tech company who owns this project to manage the Twitter feed. He made an offhand joke, and not even one that was really offensive. He probably makes $10 an hour.
If you weren't a hyper-patriotic nationalistic idiot, you probably would have seen the link I posted rather than skipping over everything I say and rating my posts dumb.
As I've said before, I'm not even American, I just understand the fact that peoples lives are more important than some peoples misguided notion of public privacy.
And I can't actually check that twitter link cause I'm at work, but it's adorable that you're taking the tweet of one person, anecdotal evidence at best, as evidence for your train of thought, it's cute really.
Now Ybbats is rating everyone dumb that rated him dumb.
Brilliant.
I think that it's personal because it identifies everybody it records, which is different from just recording a face
But it doesn't identity you based on your name, since that would take too much time and effort, it probably just attaches a numeric identity to that face structure.

I am as unpatriotic as you get, and that link was stupid.
For anyone who didn't see, it was a random blogger that quoted the company that made Tripwire as saying "Thank goodness for crazy people" in relation to a shooting. (most likely)
He's saying the PR guy who wrote that is one of the 1% that owns the country, lol

Maybe that's why you're so ignorant then, when your government starts treating you like a terrorist and taking away rights your parents and grandparents had and fought tooth and nail for, maybe you'll get it. I've never said I believe in any conspiracy theories, that doesn't mean I'm not concerned though. The truth is more important than the facts. - Frank Lloyd Wright

I think it does associate the number with a name though, because if it didn't, it'd be far less useful in the arrest/deeper surveillance of those who it determines may be terrorists. If somebody committed a crime in front of the camera, police would have to either hope the criminal returns to the area while they are there, or to reappear in another camera and then they rush to the area to make the arrest. Though it really depends on how fast the local PDs actually receive information, as it may take awhile for it to be processed and then sent to them

Stop fucking quoting things to avoid making a logical argument. You have yet to give me one example of a legitimate right that is being taken away from you with this system. Please, enlighten me oh pinnacle of western democracy and freedom.

Next time you have an opinion, remind me to disrespect it.

They probably don't connect the number to the real identity until they have justifiable reason to watch you. Realistically, it would take a lot of time to research a person's face and then find them by name for every person, and have that automated. Like I said, that's probably done manually by people if they system reports a lot of suspicious activity on that number.
If you weren't a hyper-patriotic nationalistic idiot, you probably would have seen the link I posted rather than skipping over everything I say and rating my posts dumb.
Flaming and threadshitting wont help you convince others of your argument. Reported.

You're pretty close to being the dumbest person I've seen posting on facepunch.

You have yet to give facts for your opinion, or even logical stances. It just sounds like you hear your daddy yelling about freedom when he watches the news and now your spewing all that he says on the internet without backing it up with and detail like I've asked you to do multiple times.
Stop fucking quoting things to avoid making a logical argument. You have yet to give me one example of a legitimate right that is being taken away from you with this system. I never said I thought this company was taking my rights away, ITS A PRIVATE COMPANY THEY CANNOT LITERALLY TAKE ANY RIGHTS AWAY FROM ME. I said the drive behind companies like these are disgusting, they attempt to capitalize on fear and terrorism, that's bad if you ask me, although really they're not the ones responsible for it, that would be our government who decides policies that enable these guys to be huge assholes.
I am like very many other people and don't mind some information being made public. But when said information tips off terrorists that people are indeed watching them then what is to stop them from just changing tactics or just switching with someone. When you release information like this it puts people's lives in danger. If those terrorists mentioned earlier in the thread in Los Angeles have not been caught yet then they will most certainly never be caught now. There is nothing to stop them from just being switched out by another person or just leaving. Maybe people were trying to obtain more information to make more connections to other terrorists and make the appropriate arrests and gain more evidence against them. These opportunities are now forever gone and have smashed whatever work people have done to get these people arrested. Now instead they will most likely be completely replaced by other less traceable people and have to start over. Do I care? Why yes I do considering I live in the middile of LA and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. Now I will also be happy knowing if these reports were indeed true then there is now nothing to stop these people from accomplishing their goal.

Then stop bringing up your arguments that have nothing to do with the topic into this thread. Did you really think it was a good idea to bring a previous argument into a thread about a totally different concept without clarifying what you're even arguing about?
You're pretty close to being the dumbest person I've seen posting on facepunch.
Is this an argument or are you just here to flame and troll me now?

That's true, they might not link the number and name immediately, but I think it could be automated if they compared footage to drivers licenses. It could be narrowed down a lot since they'd already have hair color, race, and possible city of residency.
Is this an argument or are you just here to flame and troll me now?
Ok, now you ARE the dumbest person I've seen posting on facepunch.
Then stop bringing up your arguments that have nothing to do with the topic into this thread.
I didn't. Pierrewithahat did. Go back and read if you don't want to take my word for it.
Is this an argument or are you just here to flame and troll me now?
lol says the guy arguing about a totally unrelated topic in a thread he has no business being in
Ok, now you ARE the dumbest person I've seen posting on facepunch.
This still isn't an argument. I don't get what you're trying to prove as I'm not the one who stopped supporting my statements to call people 'dumb'. It sounds like you're frustrated.

Please go ahead with the whole "my parents fought for their rights!" I'm from the UK dude, specifically Scotland so don't go with the whole "We fought for our rights and now we're losing them!" shpeel, because really, when it comes down to it, you fought the Revolutionary War for your rights, after that you were free, congratulations, after that we got flattened by German bombs and you guys ran around the world shouting "MURRICAH!" and done dick all else.
And in case you didn't know the UK has the most CCTV cameras in the world if memory serves, and we have the exact same shit as you guys have, we have terrorists trying to attack us, we have people fighting them off, we have a completly incompetent government that no one likes too.
The fact is, the cameras are on public ground where people gather, when you leave your home, you have no privacy, it is not your land, if the cameras end up in your homes that's when you get angry until then all these cameras exist for is to reduce the likelihood of crime and terrorism.
