I'd gladly pay $16/mo if I could afford it but I can't and the same goes for a lot of people.
it's optional BRAH
Why would people even use Netflix for DVD by mail? The instant streaming service is all we use, and redbox for everything else. Sure you need to pay xbox live on the 360 but the streaming service works on the Wii and PC fine.
I know the section is called sensationalist headlines but could we stop with shitty thread titles like this please
Good thing I only pay for streaming, too impatient to wait for a DVD in the mail to watch it.
whats funny is they take shows off the streaming and then make them dvd only.
ummm they don't chose to do that do you have any idea how things work?? i only use streaming anyways so this doesn't affect me
Oh noes, a company wants to increase the price of their service! It makes sense. If you're using more, then you gotta pay more. [editline]12th July 2011[/editline] Also, that's not news. It's a terribly written opinion piece.
too bad here in Canada you have massive price gouging when you go a measly 10GB over bandwidth caps just to watch some fucking movies....then you gotta deal with the netflix price increases all because a company needs to charge more to make the same profit....all at the consumers expense right? yeah man it's all good got no problem with that
$8.00 PER MONTH is actually a lot of money in the long run.
$8 a month is lot if you're 15 or living paycheck to paycheck
this is the stupidest saying ever, stop using it
It's true in this case though. The way they've done things has changed the way people watch movies and has made them into an incredibly successful corporation that's affordable to customers. They're only changing things because of greed.
what the hell double post [editline]13th July 2011[/editline]
valkery posted: And what happens when you watch all the movies in the redbox? Or you want a more varied selection? Netflix has a massive selection, and for me, it is the only way to get movies. I may be a tad biased though... The nearest redbox is a half an hour drive away. Going 60 down the highway.
I'm not talking Redbox, we don't have those around here. I'm talking my local rental place, which will bring in any DVD I request for an extra dollar so I can rent it. And as far as streaming goes, they don't have a massive selection. They have a fair selection, but hardly massive. Their DVD selection is great, don't get me wrong, but I'm not paying one dollar less than now to have half my service (that is, the main part) chopped off and be stuck with one DVD at a time. Like I said, I can get a better deal down the road. I'm paying 9 now for both services, and have been for over a year. If I'm putting my hard-earned money towards something I expect to get it, and not be expected to pay near double for the same service a year later. Wow this post got fucked.
I only use the streaming service anyway so it doesn't really affect me.
I hope to shit that I can still afford this every month because I still have a lot of shit that I would like to watch.
wait, people still use DVD's?
guess I better finish the last season of Arrested Development before Sept 1 then...
And I was almost done watching all eight seasons of 24 for the second time..
Because prolly posting DVDs to people isn't really profitable?
It definitely is if you noticed how big they are.

redbox has the worst movies ever imaginable. except that 1 movie that everyone gets because its the best out of the entire list of shit.
Some movies can't be streamed, thus why people get them shipped.
this. The movies that Netflix doesn't offer to stream, I'll add to my DVD queue... the fact that I have to pay twice as much for the same service makes no sense. Hell, even AT&T let me keep my unlimited data plan when I switched phones. Best move would have been to say that all customers keep their current monthly fees, but new customers would have to pay the double fee. In fact they would get a ton of people signing up between now and Sept 1 to avoid that extra fee, and then people who want Netflix after that would be willing to pay because that's the new fee.

You can't have it both ways. You can't ask for them to increase their library without raising prices. They have to pay for licensing somehow.
Seriously? Seriously? I just got netflix a few weeks ago and laid down a benjamin for a streaming player for it. Die netflix. Die.
They need to increase the prices for the huge license fees movie studios ask for.

Now that it costs an extra $8 a month for probably 3 movies I'll actually get sent to me in the mail is too much. Redbox is $1 per night when I feel like watching a movie rather than letting a movie collect dust like the Netflix ones until I feel like watching it.
Who would want DVDs mailed to them other than old people?
Who would want DVDs mailed to them other than old people?
I would, actually. Pretty much any you want movie shipped overnight... Not bad.
Or just stream it instantly
Only about half of there movies can be streamed.
this is the stupidest saying ever, stop using it
How? If something works, people enjoy it, people pay for it, people are happy, people respect your company, why go against that?
I don't mind this, really. DVDs and physical media in general are antiquated
