It WAS.
it IS. netflix is a streaming service. if you want DVDs, look elsewhere
it's hard to grasp how somebody can be so self-entitled
OH MY GOD. A COUPLE EXTRA DOLLARS EVERY MONTH.
Stop the fucking presses.
I really don't think you Americans realise how lucky you are or how cheap your quality of life is compared to a lot of other developed, western countries.
I'd fucking LOVE to be able to pay $15 a month for unlimited streaming and DVDs and to have internet plans with no data cap for cheap.
You guys have it incredibly good so stop complaining so damn much and enjoy what you have.
So we aren't allowed to complain when it starts getting bad because we have had it good?
So a rich person that suddenly loses all his money shouldn't be able to complain because other people deal with the same thing and he had a good life prior? Hahahaha
how do you know they aren't raising prices because of the price of the service?
what if they have plans to get streaming for major movie studios and need the extra dosh
Thats why I said unless they need the extra to provide the same service.
it IS. netflix is a streaming service. if you want DVDs, look elsewhere
it's hard to grasp how somebody can be so self-entitled
Well it started out as a dvd rental service and thats why I originally bought netflix. Not to mention redbox doesn't have old 70s movies no one heard of.
Got this email yesterday. Gonna drop the service. Half the shows and movies I liked on streaming are not there anymore. Like Penn & Teller BullShit. Gone. Which is Bullshit.
So the only reason I can think of why netflix is taking shows off of there streaming is so people will have to get the dvds and give them that extra 8$.
a lot of it is due to licensing problems. they don't take shows off just to make people mad
I'm just glad Weeds and Futurama is still up there, as well as some of the 90's shows. But as far as the actual movies the selection is getting boring.
I'd have no problem dropping the DVD service. I've personally never ordered one, but other members of my family have. However, if they're charging $8/month just for streaming, they had better have big plans to bulk up the selection. I've only streamed Netflix since December and it's quickly gotten stale.

Netflix started as a DVD delivery service.
Netflix has changed over the years and is now notorious for video streaming.
Netflix recently updated the UI which makes it approximately 6 times slower to browse, therefore dropping the amount of daily streaming (people taking longer to find something to watch).
Netflix blog reaches a maximum of 5000 complaints, all of which go ignored.
Netflix is now charging for both delivery and streaming services.
If anybody cares to hear my opinion..
I believe somebody, maybe a group, is working within Netflix (most likely the guys running the show) and purposely trying to get the company to lose customers.
Redbox is entering the streaming business, and supposedly its going to be a big deal. Maybe someone is paying off the guys at Netflix to purposely shit on everything?
Honestly, this is not the same streaming business I knew a year ago.
I seriously doubt more than a third of the users will leave because of this, so a 160% increase in price is fine for them.

Rogue former Blockbuster employees went undercover to run Netflix into the ground.
Netflix just bought rights the other month to a lot of movies for near a Billion dollars didn't they? Why are they changing something that's clearly making them filthy rich enough to do that, to a plan that's likely to scare people off than bring more in
I miss vidbiz :(
$8 is totally worth it for streaming. Hell, how much do you pay to see a movie at a movie theater? $15+ w/ticket, popcorn, etc. Netflix can provide more than a couple hours of entertainment.
Whine about Netflix not having recent TV shows all you want, you can still find them on places like Hulu and such.
The one thing I have against Netflix is Linux/Chromebook support. Apparently it's "in the works."

You pay that amount of money because your about to watch something freshly screened for one of the first times, and on a big screen indeed.
It is severely overpriced though, no doubt about it.
How a man can make over a million dollars by simply pretending REALLY WELL has always been beyond my comprehension.
Its funny because my dad and me copied all of the dvds they sent us since we signed up so we dont have to ask for them to resend them if we want to watch them. Now our dvd selection is over 2000
[editline]14th July 2011[/editline]
Well my dad just quit and we wanted to know since we dont do streaming much. When we just looked to see if we can, they FORCE you to use the streaming one and if you want to sign up for the dvds/month.
All I use is the streaming service so whatever
I love how when everyone is bitching about this, you all conveniently forget that three years ago the only way to get a movie to your house was by going to a rental place and paying 7 bucks a night.

Torrenting has been around a lot longer then that.
I don't really mind it. I probably won't use the DVD service anymore, just because I don't use it enough.
I really don't see the fuss. I understand if you watch one movie a month from netflix you're going to be pissed, but I'll watch an episode of a tv show every day, and a couple of movies a week online, so frankly I'm saving a ton more money through Netflix as opposed to renting, Redboxing or buying my films and shows.
If you're really that angry about it, unsubscribe, nobody is stopping you. Or, better yet, just make better use of the service. Watch movies you wouldn't normally watch, you may enjoy them. Their selection isn't perfect, because of various reasons, but there's still a great deal to watch, and plenty of opportunities to get your money's worth.
