The only thing I disagree with on that list is Books, I don't think those will die out for decades. [editline]7th January 2011[/editline] Eh, maybe not. Come to think of it, devices like the Kindle could become standard and affordable for everyone.
I hate electronic books. They hurt my eyes and they just seem silly to me. If I ever get a book I always get it in paper. Like Stan Lee said about virtual comics "People will always enjoy having the physical copy in their hand"

Like Stan Lee said about virtual comics "People will always enjoy having the physical copy in their hand"
When it's cheaper and easier to get a digital copy(digital has almost infinite storage space, which instantly makes it cheaper) then the physical copy becomes niche. That's what's happening with music. Pandora, iTunes, Last.FM, Myspace, and many other websites are digitalizing music, making CDs even obsolete.

Actually there are ways to get a physical copy of a book for cheaper. And even so, it's like the difference between hardback and paperback. Sure you pay more for hardback, but it lasts longer and is sometimes worth it.
A physical copy is better than a digital copy. If you disagree, say something that is not "space saver"/"easy to obtain"
Wow, the majority of that list is complete bullshit.
Wow, the majority of that list is complete bullshit.
Everything apart from dialup is bullshit.
A physical copy is better than a digital copy. If you disagree, say something that is not "space saver"/"easy to obtain"
Uh, that's what makes it more prevalent. I don't argue whether it's better or not. Hell, hand blown glass is of better quality than mass produced stuff, but hand blown is way more expensive because it is time consuming and requires expertise to make, it's for rich people or people who enjoy the niche. Not saying hand blown isn't cool, but it isn't really worth the money anymore unless you're into that sort of thing.
Hey dialup is awesome
Sometimes I want to live in the 80s again.
Sometimes I want to live in the 80s again.
Ugh, mostly shit music, bad hair, disgusting clothes, and a cold war? No thanks.
I much prefer to go to the store and buy a DVD/Bluray.
Kind of off-topic (sort of), but I don't like how technology dependant mankind is slowly becoming. I mean, sure, I love technology. It's awesome. But... I mean, we still need to be doing shit like printing encyclopaedias (even if the info is there online). We need physical copies of stuff AS WELL as everything being online and cloud based. It's only a matter of time before something goes wrong somewhere in the system and it's gonna be a WHOLE LOT easier to fix and deal with if we're not TOO tech dependant.
If I ever get married and have kids, I'll introduce them to some real outdated technology. A Type Writer!
In my opinion, I like using a type writer to make rough drafts. It's really relaxing to get on one, and take a step back.
Ugh, mostly shit music, bad hair, disgusting clothes, and a cold war? No thanks.
that's also the 00's but with a, uh, ...hot war? Instead of a cold war. I mean c'mon, you could say that for almost any decade and I'm sure you'll be able to say it about the '10's when they're over.
that's also the 00's but with a, uh, ...hot war? Instead of a cold war. I would say it was a good decade. I am also very much optimistic about the 10's.
"Dial-up Internet: While not everyone is on broadband, it won't be long before dial-up Internet goes the way of the plug-in phone." Damnit, I'll mis- "Hand-written letters: For that matter, hand-written anything." Yes! Now people won't need to see my Primer-like handwriting!
You have to live a pretty boring, yet rich lifestyle to see the stuff in the OP comming. There are still millions and millions of people, even in the western countries, who aren't using the newer technologies and also don't give a fuck about them.

Most of this stuff is becoming cheaper than the old versions of it. It might be commonplace now(although most of it is, especially in cities), but it is getting there.
Kids these days...
If I ever get married and have kids, I'll introduce them to some real outdated technology. A Type Writer!
A what whoer?
Movie rental stores: You actually got in your car and drove someplace just to rent a movie? yes I do.
i do, like all the time except i don't drive there, i walk.
i do, like all the time except i don't drive there, i walk.
Kids these days. When I was young I used to ride horses to the video store. And we didn't have stables back then, so I had to catch a wild one and tame it every time I went there.
Half of these are pretty stupid, kids born this year are still going to buy and wear watches you don't want to piss about getting your phone out of your pocket every time you want to look at the time and since when are cameras being replaced by pocket computers. And not writing anything? Come on that's just stupid of course kids are going to write shit it's not like exams are going to be given on laptops.
i do, like all the time except i don't drive there, i walk.
I don't see how you guys could do it. I can stream practically any movie from my netflix.
this is a very pretentiously written article

They are jewelry. And cameras are being replaced by pocket computers since just about every phone you can buy has a camera attached. Some of them are getting pretty high quality too.
