A modernized thompson could look great if it wasn't simply "lets put some rails on it and make the furniture black polymer"

It could easily be made to look a whole lot more sleek if they gave is a solid polymer hand guard rather than one of those 4 sided rail ones.
he makes this shit only because customers ask him to
If you worked at a place like bestbuy, and a customer comes in and describes what he needs, which is just a basic computing laptop to send and receive emails and nothing else, would you in good conscious sell him a $4,500 alienware built for gaming?
You'd probably just sell him a $250 HP laptop. The guy asking for that Tommy gun wanted it for his SWAT teams, and that would be the absolute worst weapon for a SWAT team. It's the heaviest submachine gun ever made, it has insane muzzle rise for an SMG, and it has awful ergonomics. If he wanted something with more oomph than a 9mm SMG, then Red Jacket should have sold him a MP5/10 or a MP5/40.
If they wanted to do some flashy special project for the show, they should have converted something practical into a more lethal round, rather than picking a heavily outdated SMG and throwing a rail system on it.

There's always some retard bringing in a firearm with the words, "see what you can do with this," and out comes this heretical tacticool piece shit every time.
I bet that secretly Will Hayden weeps himself to sleep every night, regretting his terrible mistake in signing that contract with the Discovery Channel.
Modernized.. doesn't mean slap some rails and poly furniture. It's still got the problems of the Thompson IE: it weighs a metric fuckton and it's receiver is pretty much a solid hunk of steel, even then it's still nigh uncontrollable in FA.
It'd be modernized had they cast the receiver out of like aluminum or something similar, and installed a muzzle device that actually did something.
Okay, so lets fund this.
We need someone to start building a low-cost modernized version of the Thompson that comes in .17HMR/HM2, .22lr, 9mm Luger, 9mm Makarov*, .25 ACP, and .45 ACP. It has to be built with light weight materials, have a take down variant, possibly uses a different cycling mechanism, introduce mechanisms to make it easier to take down/clean/repair, and make it so that it can take an AR-15 Bumpfire stock.
FUND IT.
*Because we all need a little special snowflake round.
