First off, the USPS receives no government funding.
Second off, the EPA performs and funds a lot of environmental research. For example, right now I'm interning at a lab that gets a lot of grants from the EPA to do research on the upper Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Third, Amtrak gets a lot of tax money, but because it's been losing money, we should stop funding it?
Talk about losing jobs. How many employees of Amtrak would lose their jobs if they went under because of no funding?

imagine an ocean, rich people are a yacht, middle class is a barge, and the lower class is a rock
if all the boats (or rock) are moving to the right (good), and the current is going to the right, the yacht will reach the other end of the bay in the fastest amount of time
similarly, if the current is moving to the left, the yacht will be the slowest one moving to the left, while the barge will reach the starting end of the harbor first (along with the rock)
ideally, if the current is going right, a barrier should be placed infront of the yacht to let the barge (and rock) catch up; rather than attempt to sink the yacht

The USPS is run by the government.... Our tax money is used to run it. It is called the U.S. Postal Service for a reason.
The government should be giving the money to the research centers, not funneling it through a bunch of bureaucrats with guns. So much money is wasted in the process plain and simple.
Why fund a company that is doomed to go under. We are literally throwing away money.
You have to cut your losses. Due to the tax cuts, business would expand and more jobs would be available.

Lesser regulation = lower quality of service.

What I see is an op-ed with its only source for those statistics being a libertarian group.
Most media outlets have a biased, can't help that. It's still true that a lot of tax payer money is allocated to lobbying in that way though. It was a big deal in Nebraska a while back.
