Peace.
night everyone. hope johan_sm comes back on tomorrow, he was fun
250,000 isn't really ultra-rich, more like upper-middle-class. atleast in canada anyway
With the tax cuts the rich get, they can buy into companies owned by other rich people and make those rich people even richer with increased capital. Then those rich people can continue the cycle. It's like the upper class has their own economy and the lower classes only see a trickle of it.
Trickle down economics work perfectly..
So that they can buy stuff and help the poor businesses from where rich people buy their stuff from. Therefore it improves the economy. [sp]herp[/sp]
If you're rich, why would you buy stuff from the smaller guys. You buy stuff from the big shops, run by other rich people.
Except that doesn't work at all. What does work is to give poor people a better chance at becoming more productive in society.
And how do you do that? Just give them money with no strings attached, or give them money with the requirement for them to hunt for a job?
250,000 isn't really ultra-rich, more like upper-middle-class. atleast in canada anyway
US too.
I love how FP is going OMG ITS CUZ CORPORATIONS CONTROLL GOVERNMENT LOLOLOLOL, the reason they are keeping these tax cuts is in the hope of beginning a cycle of trickle-down economics. It is somewhat unlikely but let's get it clear that it isn't because a bunch of fat cats control our politicians.
How can people read stories like this and not see how right Marx was and still is about society on so many levels? I'm not saying his solutions to the problems he saw were right at all... but wow, come on.
Why does our country still exist again?

It doesn't take a genius to see that society is fucked up on many levels.
the reason they are keeping these tax cuts is in the hope of beginning a cycle of trickle-down economics.
Yeah, how'd that work out with Reagan?
Why is it important that Marx was right if his solutions don't fit anyway? It doesn't take a genius to see that society is fucked up on many levels.
I'm saying he saw why it was fucked up and unbalanced, and he was one of the very first people to do it in a real thought out way. It's perfectly possible to take his criticisms of capitalism without agreeing with his views on revolution and communism - just because you can see what's wrong with the capitalist system doesn't mean you have to whole-heartedly agree with the flawed alternatives.
Well yeah, it's my money, I should decide what to do with it. Just because I have more zeros than the person next to me doesn't mean I should pay more.
Yeah it does; that's exactly what it means. In my opinion people should have to justify all the money they own. Sitting on millions just because you're a greedy bastard is very damaging to society.
I don't quite understand why everyone is so "angry" towards the rich - assuming it's not inherited, then chances are the person worked hard, contributed to society, and earned his/her money. So many people have the mentality that rich people are born rich, and that somehow it's unfair.
I think the Poor should pay the least taxes and the Rich pay the most taxes.
I think the Poor should pay the least taxes and the Rich pay the most taxes.
Stop using logic.
I think Stephen Colbert said it best. " The top 2% of wage earners like me are going to get our Bush tax cuts extended! I cannot wait for the tax rate to stay exactly the same so I can create all those jobs."
Poor people tend to support the "little guy" more than the rich. Someone in the poor - middle class range will likely shop at the corner store, farmer's market, buy a used car, etc. This helps the economy. The super rich keep their money with other rich people; ordering crates of caviar, special ordering a diamond-studded Lexus, so forth. This does jack shit for the economy.
You've opened my eyes.
Why does our country still exist again?
because poor still believe in the American and think if they just keep on working tht one day they will be rich [editline]7th December 2010[/editline]
I don't quite understand why everyone is so "angry" towards the rich - assuming it's not inherited, then chances are the person worked hard, contributed to society, and earned his/her money. Rich people hire people create jobs, Therefore they help the economy. Plus all should get equal advantages, in my opinion. It will help stop the economy from getting worse, but not as much as middle class tax cuts. The middle class buy products and work.
because poor still believe in the American and think if they just keep on working tht one day they will be rich [editline]7th December 2010[/editline] because most people stay in the same class they were born with and being born with more money is unfair
Life isn't fair. You can still work hard to go from rags to riches. You have to be smart and determined. But anyway tax cuts are good in economic growth where people are not afraid to take risks but when we are a recession where our debt is 8 trillion dollars more than our GDP and our average unemployment is 9.8%, the government needs as much revenue it can get.
;26553367']Rich people hire people create jobs, Therefore they help the economy. Plus all should get equal advantages, in my opinion.
Poor people create products for the rich people to get, therefore they help the economy.
Poor people create products for the rich people to get, therefore they help the economy.
I did not argue that they did not, but rich help it as much.
;26553425']I did not argue that they did not, but rich help it as much.
Then they should stop with the disproportionate tax cuts.
Why the everloving fuck do rich people get tax cuts in the first place?
The main purpose of it is to increase jobs and decrease unemployment, but how effective it is has been debated. Contrary to what everyone has been saying, they don't do it just because the government loves rich people.
You do realize that a lot of these 'ultrarich' people worked their fucking asses off to get the money they have. Bill Gates is a perfect example. It's a bit harder heading (or formerly heading, but that's not the point) a worldwide software corporation than flipping burgers. [editline]7th December 2010[/editline] Now, I'm not saying that the poor should be taxed like hell, but super-taxation of the rich won't help anything.

They worked hard and deserve the money.
