Trump on Hawaii false missile alert: 'They made a mistake'

And don't forget you can't diagnose him until you diagnose him. Further, you can't diagnose him until you prove he's worth attempting to diagnose. Asking to diagnose him is also dangerous and will lead to mass panic and hysteria because it's untrue because he hasn't been diagnosed with anything which is how you know it's untrue.
You guys are seriously running wild with what geel's saying.

Nah. We're hardly even walking here.
He's basically saying 'stop trying to convince people of anything because they might take you seriously' as if this isn't a serious thing to begin with. Also 'putting more stock into your words than they ever should' is pretty darn snarky.
If you want to see what 'running wild' is, feel free to read the following thread - not that it wasn't an earned and well-deserved dressing down that deserved some running wild.
Who knows if he has dementia.
But family histories of dementia are EXTRAORDINARILY predictive of dementia.
Just by having that family history, your chances of having it are so much more massive that the "speculation" here is probably closer to the mark than anyone wants to admit.
That's all well and good but this happens so often with you. You'll state some shit that everyone kind of agrees is likely as if it were absolute fact. Then someone points out that you can't know it, and you'll go "well OBVIOUSLY it's not a FACT yet".
You're an influencer, and people won't always read your belated backtracking. Just stop doing it please.
Exactly what I said before, it's replacing verification with rationalization
Can we all just take a step back and look at what Trumps remarks actually were? After all, this thread is about what he said regarding Hawaii.
Call me crazy but I don't think what he said is weird or even particularly note-worthy. It just seems like a standard response to what happened.
I understood that perfectly fine. What's the issue? That he repeated himself a couple times? I think part of the problem is people intentionally looking for an issue with what was said simply because of who said it.
Nah, Trump has a serious communication issue. I'm not gonna hold off on addressing it just for fear of being partisan. I've made it clear last time, and I'm making it clear now, that I don't like all of the assumptions being passed around as fact by BDA, but that doesn't mean I can't see how shit Trump is at articulating himself, far beyond the scope of what you could justify with "sales tactics"
I think some of the coverage of trump misses that even if he wasn't a dumb idiot with dementia that he's still a terrible president
A) he's still insanely corrupt
B) most of the policy he's enacted is extremely regressive to society writ large if not actively resentful to specific parts of the country.
This is quite literally what I'm talking about???
I think american liberalism in general has the problem of trying to express their politics decently but I think there are too many people suffering to play nice.
Do you have any sort of certification in mental health to be making statements like that? It's not that easy to tell.
A huge number of mental health professionals have spoken out about concerns regarding the president's mental wellbeing.
That guy wasnt gaslighting, ive been gaslighted, ive got extensive experience with it. The original poster was literally saying he doesnt like trump but we shouldnt rush to call him mentally unfit because the only evidence we have is a bunch of people online saying "yeah he could be mentally ill" its literally what the republicans do to their opponents and we shouldnt sink that low.
This isnt gaslighting, and your response is a huge overreaction. You and BDA are attacking people that agree with you just because theyre expressing doubts.
Except he was presented with thousands of professionals agreeing uppon the possibility of Trump having a condition and he just brushed it off with "eh that doesn't say anything, they just don't like Trump"
"Trump shows obvious signs of mental decline, but refuses to get checked. He is the president, so we should probably get him checked out by a professional."
"YOU CANT SAY THAT UNLESS SOMEONE HAS DIAGNOSED HIM"
a multipage long argument where both sides agree that the president should be evaluated by a professional.
The evaluation is unlikely to happen. Which doesn't alleviate the concern.
Trump is obviously a crazy old man. The particular brand of crazy is something for professionals to decide ( spoiler alert it is dementia coupled with the single most textbook case of narcissistic personality disorder that I have ever seen), but the fact that something is broken in Trump's brain is painfully clear.
Edit: you can tell I'm right because my name is green.
This was needed. Like, really. Can't say it more clear.

Unfortunately for you, you can't just diagnose someone by watching him on tv. I can guarantee you that 99% of those mental health professionals don't really care about dementia, they just want him removed from power.

For a specific entry in the DSM? Nah, probably not, but that is largely due to technicalities in the DSM, rather than the inability of a professional to immediately recognize that there is a serious mental health issue.
In the same way that a medical doctor can look at a massively swollen limb and go "oh yeah, that needs serious help" without knowing if the cause is a broken bone, infection, fracture, sprain, etc etc.

You can easily diagnose certain mental, neurological, and psychological conditions such as Down's Syndrome, Polio, and so on based on television appearances and speeches, tweets, etc. Don't be naive.

it's not without reason that some things are referred to as spotter cases, if you see them you have to make the spot diagnosis based on what you observe. But in some cases certain other diseases mimic a set of symptoms, so you'd have to perform confirmatory examinations to rule them out later.

We shouldn't make assumptions about people without the facts.
Also, 99% of people who's jobs it is to monitor and diagnose the mental health of people who have concerns about the president are purely partisan.
I’m gonna be the one to say it, but the validity of diagnosis on Trump’s mental state in response to his method of speech doesn’t actually have a whole lot to do with the OP.
Can we get back on topic please?

So, in your effort to show that these people are full of shit, all you did was speak with statistics pulled from your ass?

No credible mental health professional is going to say someone's got mental health problems based on his way of talking.

So literally EVERY mental health specialist who listens to him talk, tweet, and sees how he acts can POSSIBLY think there's something wrong with him based on his family history of dementia is wrong, partisan, and not credible?
Still not seeing it.
