The marketing campaign was ridiculously clever and well thought out. A different host uploading a different music video every day. By the end of the week there was a video of his in every corner of the web.

Weird al made a pretty good cameo in my little pony too.
One user got their wish Godspeed, TheFilmSlacker
There's an interview where Weird Al says that every time he puts out a new album, people call it a "comeback". Sure enough...
Weird al made a pretty good cameo in my little pony too.
*long groan*
Weird Al is one of the only entertrainers which will legitimately make me cry when he goes.
My personal fave from a long time ago: "My, my this here Anakin guy. Maybe Vader someday later, now he's just a small fry. "
My personal fave from a long time ago: "My, my this here Anakin guy. Maybe Vader someday later, now he's just a small fry. "
Fun fact: Don McLean (the artist known for the song American Pie) would sometimes accidentally sing the chorus of A Saga Begins at concerts, due to his kids constantly playing the song around the house.
If anything, he's aging in reverse. He looked way older with his poodle hair, moustache, and glasses back in the 80's and early 90's. He's pretty much got that Benjamin Button disease.
he just looked older back then cause he looked like a weird dad
My personal fave from a long time ago: "My, my this here Anakin guy. Maybe Vader someday later, now he's just a small fry. "
cant beat this "You think your Commodore 64 is really neato, What kinda chip you got in there, a Dorito?"
i don't mean to imply this is the best song he ever did i just felt it worth mentioning
Fun fact: Don McLean (the artist known for the song American Pie) would sometimes accidentally sing the chorus of A Saga Begins at concerts, due to his kids constantly playing the song around the house.
My favorite Weird Al story is the one about Dare to Be Stupid.
"Dare to Be Stupid" is an original song by "Weird Al" Yankovic. It is a musical pastiche (or "style parody") of the band Devo. In an interview on VH1's Behind The Music, Devo's Mark Mothersbaugh stated in reaction to the song that: "I was in shock. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard. He sort of re-sculpted that song into something else and, umm... I hate him for it, basically." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dare_to_Be_Stupid_%28song%29
Weird Al is so good that his parody of Devo wound up being one of the best Devo songs around; it's the sound that they've been trying to capture the entire time.
Pretender.
You win this round, Detective.
Unlike a lot of musical artists, Weird Al has adapted to the Digital Age easily and well. Not just with this album, but even a lot his older songs now are related to technology and shit, like the Pentium one up there.
Agreed. For over 30 years, he's managed to stay fresh and relevant, and his overall sound continues to improve with each release. I only hate that he's talking about retiring. He says he's not planning on releasing any new albums, and will instead release an occasional single here and there.

he could probably self-publish his next album and still sell just as much
After a number one record, you'd think his label would be keen on renewal.
-snip, i was misinformed-
Really enjoy this one. I think his talent is just as present in his performance as it is in his parodical lyrics.
