It's really only AT&T that pulls this sort of shit. Kind of like them switching my data plan off of unlimited (Right before the news broke that they were doing away with unlimited data plans) without telling me. $250 phone bill.
hahaha... oh AT&T you so crazy. Im glad they never did that to me, I know I use about 20-25GB of bandwidth on my phone for a month. So something like what you experienced, would kick me in the ass with a brilliant bill.
This is why I don't use smart phones :v:
Glad to live in Europe :v:
I assume they observe the ammount of data you're using per month, or perhaps which kind of data you're requesting (which, in itself, is scary as fuck because that's essentially spying) meaning you can't "hide" your tethering app.
I use my iPhone for internet browsing constantly, would they really be able to tell if I did it on a laptop instead? I'm on an unlimited data plan so I was planning to start tethering it soon but this is just lame
Derp-a-fucking-herp.
Does that mean they charge the use of WiFi on other plans or are they just being retarded?
This is why I don't use smart phones :v:
I hate getting ratings but no one fucking tells me why I get the ratings. I can piece it together on my own but other times I get confused as to why I get others!
I hate getting ratings but no one fucking tells me why I get the ratings. I can piece it together on my own but other times I get confused as to why I get others!
They're just 16x16 images, chillaX
Looks like At&T didn't get the message the first time we broke them up.
I hate getting ratings but no one fucking tells me why I get the ratings. The reason you don't have a smartphone is obviously, because mommy didn't buy you one.
Smart Phones seem like a huge hassle, having to deal with the companies always pulling shit.
Wait until you AT&T DSL users wake up one lazy sunday in May to find that your DSL suddenly has a 150gb cap. AT&T has already announced the transition for ALL DSL customers using their service.
150gb is a lot, I don't think i've ever downloaded that much in 1 month
150GB is little when you got subsonic server with 10 listeners, and several WAN broadcasting servers too. 150GB is nothing.
Yeah their network sucks, their data cap sucks, their prices suck, their reception sucks, their plans all suck, etc. I'm surprised no one has filed anti-trust suits against them yet.
They bought them all out. Literally.
150GB is little when you got subsonic server with 10 listeners, and several WAN broadcasting servers too. 150GB is nothing.
Doing that would be a violation of pretty much any home ISP's terms of service, however. You're not allowed to run servers like that from a personal Internet connection.
I hate getting ratings but no one fucking tells me why I get the ratings.
150gb is a lot, I don't think i've ever downloaded that much in 1 month
Yeah my house can go through 150gb in a week. You overestimate how little that amount actually is. Of course, our company is it's own min-ISP licensed by AT&T, so we have a giant network of computers in the office. Personal use, like gaming, streaming movies, etc. over the course of 7 days between all of us can get pretty damn close to 150gb. The cap shouldn't be implemented in the first place, that's my argument. It's not going to affect me, but it's still bullshit. They're trying to force users into switching over to their Uverse bullshit by making changes to existing contracts without informing customers.
Yeah their network sucks, their data cap sucks, their prices suck, their reception sucks, their plans all suck, etc. I'm surprised no one has filed anti-trust suits against them yet.
I love my iPhone with grandfathered unlimited. But I understand what you mean. AT&T is dicks, Ma Bell better not come back.
So did anyone else notice that they automatically register you for the "highest" available data plan, 4GB, as well? Means that if you've still got your old unlimited data plan and they apparently see fit to automatically sign you up for this new tethering bullshit, you lose your unlimited data as well.
hackers will win
Doing that would be a violation of pretty much any home ISP's terms of service, however. Cant do what I want, while staying in legal means, like hell I can't do what I want.
Doing that would be a violation of pretty much any home ISP's terms of service, however. Wait, so this only applies to Iphone users? What about Android Phone users?
Well according to the American legal systems view on contracts and agreements I think it is.
I'm not sure how it works in the US, but if an Australian telco makes a major contract change like this, legally you have 30 days in which you can be released from the contract, with no termination fees, since it's not what you signed for, not what you agreed to. Of course, they don't tell you about it. Any similarity over there?

Well, that's pretty fucking shit
I was about to sign up with AT&T so that I could tether some cheap smartphone to my laptop, verizon is starting to look much better.
Nope. They end off their contracts with "This contract may change at anytime"
If the contract says that what stops the customer from changing the contract
If the contract says that what stops the customer from changing the contract
That's a point, it probably doesn't say who can change it
