Kind of an iffy issue with this.
Yeah, there's lots of people who smoke pot responsibly (ie for a quick buzz). I used to hang out with alot of them. Then you have the 'tards who smoke it just to go to another world, some of whom I've had the "pleasure" of working with. (not cool working at a pizza place where everyone but you decides they're going to disappear into the supply closet for 15 minutes and smoke pot DURING BUSINESS HOURS)
But considering that alcohol and, to some extent, cigarettes have many of the same issues and yet are somehow still legal, I don't see why people are so anal about something that actually has medical purposes.
I think there are a lot of drugs that, from what I've heard, aren't really that bad. The ones that don't fuck up your brain permanently should be legalized, with restrictions similar to those of alcohol, which is just as if not more dangerous than at least %50 of illegal drugs out there.
The majority of drugs do not effect you in a permanent way, meaning most drugs do not change who you are. They should be legal.
so wait, they're not listening to her because shes following a law that they voted yes to? hm.
I think that's basically the gist. The state is also saying Marijuana isn't a valid enough medicine to qualify for a "Caregiver" title.
In the event that a state supreme court either denies to hear a case, or decides in favor of the state, cant the people just appeal to SCOTUS and hope they decide to hear it?
I'm all for the medical benefits, and legalization. However the ill affects of marijuana are a subject close to home.
I'm not going to pretend that this is a huge issue and that any large number of smokers are at risk, but people need to understand that marijuana isn't for everyone.
I used to be a heavy smoker, now I can't smoke. Why? Underlying mental issues I was unaware of until I began smoking have been accelerated exponentially.
I was always going to eventually show symptoms of these mental disorders, the marijuana simply acted as a catalyst, and now instead of dealing with these problems in my middle age I'm now a paranoid schizophrenic with tachycardia at age 20. My life will never be the same.
For all my homies that can still enjoy weed, keep tokin. Just remember it's harmless to a majority of people, but it's life ruining for a select few.
I'm neutral on the drug issue, but I think the court is right for ignoring this. There's a whole lot more important cases for them to hear about than something about marijuana.

This is why it should be legal (medicinal benefits), but strictly controlled (cases like yours).

While I empathise with you(My brother had some mental problems relating to it as well), but it shouldn't be illegal.
Should we make milk, eggs or nuts illegal because some people are allergic to them?

While I feel bad for you, this is not marijuanas fault. This should have no impact on marijuanas legalization, just that people shouldnt smoke without knowing their own mental health.
oh come on, people will always do drugs, no matter how good education is
but if a drug has to be legalized, I'd want marijuana to be legalized instead of dangerous shit like cocaine, meth, and PCP

People should be educated on drugs, not so they don't do it, so that if they DO, they do it safely, and as responsibly as possible. There are a lot of responsible drug users, they're the ones no one hears about which really isn't fair.
Just another thing the man has done to us, man!
Marjuana should be with alcohol and tobacco, bad or not, let the people have their escape from stress!
Druggies: People who have shit lives and need drugs to feel good

No. Not at all.
Druggies: People who have shit lives and need drugs to feel good
You're ignorant.

The only reason alcohol and tobacco are still here is because by the time we found out how dangerous they where, they where already deeply embedded in our society, which is why the US prohibition didn't work.

Marijuana has been here for 9000 years. A prohibition against that is quite fucking clearly, NOT WORKING EITHER. A trillion dollars over 40 years to exterminate marijuana, and marijuana is a thousand times more popular today, than ever before. Why does anyone support a prohibition? Please, tell me why.

Hey dude, you should read the first sentence.

all he had to do was look at his family history of mental illness.

I did, I was clarifying for others.
