I wonder, if this guy get to become the president next year. What will happen to America?
Yeah, because things worked really well when he did a day of prayer for Texas.
Executive order dismantling the supreme court for reasons of "national security"
Nope, it's the Democrats who hate the Supreme Court.
As a practicing member of the faith, I need to come out and say... This is really fucking stupid.
As a practicing member of the faith, I need to come out and say... This is really fucking stupid.
Thank you for understanding the American forefathers and the separation between personal religious beliefs in a free society and the government itself.
I'm a Christian, but I'm not for forcing it on to people.
Guys calm down, Perry's just trying to get the evangelical vote. He has previously stated:
Let's be clear: I don't believe government, which taxes people regardless of their faith, should espouse a specific faith. I also don't think we should allow a small minority of atheists to sanitize our civil dialogue of religious references.
"Rick Perry may believe in god, but I've seen his polls and God does not believe in Rick Perry." Sheer fucking brilliance! http://youtu.be/BbrI3F7p6-o
Then that is fine, my issue is entirely with people who do it to avoid offending people.
Whats wrong with not offending people? Taking steps to not offend people seems like a noble goal, hardly something to be offended by.
Whats wrong with not offending people?
Then that is fine, my issue is entirely with people who do it to avoid offending people.
I kind of agree. If you are offended if someone says merry Christmas to you then the stick that is wedged so firmly up your ass should be removed and you should be beat with it. It's a benign thing to say merry Christmas. I have had people get upset with me when I tell them to have a great night or a good night. Almost anything you say will offend at least one person. Living a life walking on eggshells to not upset people will put added stress on your life that you do not need. Especially since there are people like Rick Perry running for president.
i'll say happy holidays just to piss people off. one time this one woman was like happy christmas and i said in response happy holidays and she looked like she was gonna throw an o'reilly book at me
I say happy jesus death it's the ultimate rage combo
When I am elected Emperor of Mankind I vow I will institute 365 national days of secularity.
When I am elected Jarl of all Midgard I vow I will institute 365 national dagaz of Odin worship.
Anyone else think this is a strategy by the GOP to make the other candidates seem less extreme and more electable? I think Perry is just a pawn here.
I wish I could say "I agree" but after watching Jesus Camp, no.
As much as Perry is seen as solely representative of this, it's a fairly common talking point among conservatives here with respect to trying to assert that the US's origins began as a 'christian' nation and should be treated as such. "Secular" is used as an insult in this regard, I remember the other nut (Gingrich) writing a book along these lines, titled "To Save America: Stopping Obama's Secular-Socialist Machine". And I really wish I was joking about that. What's worse is people believe this shit too. Problem is while Obama could wager this might energize those who'd vote in Republican primaries, if (and I doubt this) he gets the ticket, they'll have a hard time getting independent and swing votes off this kind of nonsense. As such I'd wager the RNC is probably not too much in favor of Perry carrying this all the way to the national platform.
Hail Jebus! Praise the Lard
Did they?
He held a day of prayer to stop the drought. We got state-wide forest fires in return.
"“You don’t need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school." Wait, I haven't been following American politics at all so I might be being ignorant, but let me get this straight. A homophobe, a phenomenon that should by all accounts be extinct, is in the frontrunning for the US presidency race? Please someone inform me that I'm wrong. Please, I beg of you.
