According to "International Institute for Strategic Studies; Hackett, James (ed.) (3 February 2010)", North Korea has an active military of 1,106,000 and a reserve of 8,200,000 - plus an additional paramilitary of 189,000. This brings the total to 9,495,000 - which exceeds China.
Forgot that DPRK counts a large part of their workforce as their army.
Honestly, an invasion by North Korea sounds more like the set up for a funny reality show or sit-com. Rodman could be a costar.
Everybody hateessssss Kimmmm.
Slightly worrying. It's like dealing with a mental patient who makes threats. Never know if they are stupid enough to carry them out
I'd be more worried about all the whales that are gonna be killed when their nuke lands in the middle of the Pacific.
I'm surprised the US just haven't nuked the fuck out of NK yet.
As crazy as the rulers of North Korea are, there are thousands of innocent civilians in there. It's been mentioned before in here but the radiation from nukes would fuck over massive parts of South Korea, too, and maybe even other parts of Asia, if per say, radiation got into the oceans. If North Korea attempt to nuke the US, or any other country for that matter, it's a slightly different story because that's basically declaring full-out war with the USA. But, currently, threats are just threats. The USA isn't going to kill roughly 24,000,000 people just because of threats.

NK would get wrecked if they tried anything - sure, they'd do some considerable damage, but I'm pretty sure that their army would collapse fairly fast.
I can't believe I'm gonna be alive to see a whole country blown to smithereens. Hopefully they'll do some kind of rescue OP and get the innocent civilians out though.
The DPRK won't be brought down by explosions, it'll be brought down by a governmental implosion, just as the DDR or USSR. A starving populace and a stagnant economy do not a long-lasting regime make.
I can only imagine that NK has become so isolated from diplomacy that they don't know how threats work. I can picture it now... "Oh shit, you mean we actually have to be able to carry out our threats?!"

"Oh shit, you mean we actually have to be able to carry out our threats?!"
They're not seriously threatening anyone; they just want some food/energy aid. The North Korean government, as insane as they may seem, are rational actors. They know that if they tried to do anything serious to SK/the US, the North would be glassed in a matter of minutes. As long as the regime's survival is not in question (i.e., barring internal strife or some such), they're not going to commit nuclear suicide.
North Korea is acting like it's the XX century.
When are they going to stop fucking around and realize it's basically GG for them? [editline]7th March 2013[/editline] I think it'd be funny if Kim was killed/forced out of power [editline]7th March 2013[/editline] Like, by his own people
I'm worried Ireland is going to invade China
They've had it coming, last night was the last time I'm going to put up with a dodgy sweet and sour.
God fucking damnit. Dennis Rodman you told us this wouldn't happen. You fucked up.
Funnily enough, they have the largest army in the world. Just by size, not by technology. They have almost 10 million soldiers, of which most are inactive. Either they are lying about it, which is probably the case, or they just force a third of the country into the army, which is also possible. [editline]7th March 2013[/editline] Still not saying they're a huge threat, it's just that if they do manage to reach us, which they won't, they can probably do some (Read as: a fuck ton of) damage.
even though NK has always made threats, I can't help but notice how frequent they are getting.

That's why they have a metric shitton of reserves.
An unidentified spokesman for Pyongyang's Foreign Ministry said the North will exercise its right for "pre-emptive nuclear strikes on the headquarters of the aggressors" because Washington is pushing to start a nuclear war against the North.
And they're the ones that are throwing threats around.
I'm surprised the US just haven't nuked the fuck out of NK yet.
you know what the US doesn't want? pointless juvenile conflict
"Look how much we can swing our dick!"
So just in case even one of their nukes miraculously reaches Washington... do we have anything important in there? I know NK isn't going to achieve anything besides having it's ass whooped, but losing Washington would kinda suck, no?
I wonder if Kim has any real control anyway and is just being forced along for the ride.
I don't think any country on this planet, even the US itself, could invade something like the United States because of the Technological and Geographical advantage
I'm not too sure how a country can invade themselves in the first place.
"Look how much we can swing our dick!"
I don't see any dick.
I'm not too sure how a country can invade themselves in the first place.

could invade something like the united states.
I wonder if they're doing all this nuclear dick waving because the rest of the world won't just ignore them.
I would very much like to know what the diplomatic replies to these repeated threats are like. I wonder if the dialogue is as harsh as NK's in the public space, or if it's actually more like "We have no plans on nuking you, we urge you to focus on your domestic developments instead of gearing up for a foreign invasion that won't happen"? I mean, if they actually happen to NOT be just waving their dicks to get their way, I hope there's someone around to tell them that they're being paranoid.
Attempting to invade the US by sea would be like playing a game of Battleship, except if you (the US) could see all of your opponent's battleships without them being able to see yours.
And also has far far more battleships :P
I'm not too sure how a country can invade themselves in the first place.
It's a statement on how the U.S. Military; far and wide accepted as; if not the most powerful in the world, then at the very least the one capable of the largest force projection in the world; that U.S. Military's massive offensive capability not being large enough to defeat it's own homeland-defensive capabilites.
If the US invaded the US they'd win because all the US soldiers would be invading the US and not defending against the US invasion.
If the entire military of the U.S. was replicated and set to invade the U.S., the U.S. would lose to the U.S.
They passed the new sanctions btw! [editline]7th March 2013[/editline] RIP US members it was nice knowing you all. [editline]7th March 2013[/editline] Live press release : http://webtv.un.org/
