So this explains what I saw during filming.
I seriously can't go into details because that spoils the fun but suddenly what I saw makes a lot more sense.

For something they claim to be made of organic material it surely looks mechanical. Even the heels contradict that line of concept.

Those are lifts, not heels. Almost every female character in the superhero films has them so they're not tiny compared to the guys. Its not a matter of design, its a matter of practicality when shooting.

Holy fuck those character designs look fucking stupid. Who the hell was in charge of this? This looks like that cheesy Michael Bay's Transformers/ Ninja Turtles design where everything is needlessly overdetailed and vibrant colors slapped everywhere. Is this what's mainstream now?

First of all, this is a reboot aimed at adults from what I hear
second of all, I'm pretty sure Power Rangers copies most of its footage from a japanese show that isn't necessarily for kids, its bordering on 4kids dub status except they actually refilm some of it to localize the plots and make the actors not be Asian.

This was a tongue-in-cheek thing directed at hollywoods track record of taking old kids show licenses and making them dark/gritty.
The armor isn't as bad as expected but tit-shaped chest armor and high heels for the female rangers is stupid.
