Anybody who's saying the old suits would look good in a modern movie are dumb, but these are pretty terrible designs. They're not streamlined at all!
Fuck yeah, the busty rangers
wonder if the yellow one is a trap like the original power rangers
they look like robot sex weirdos
I think they look pretty alright. Power Rangers, yeah.
The Rangers are really colorful and not grayed out colors, which should be their gimmick, so long as the script and directing is good right?
It could be a fun alien blaster, or what were they fighting again..?
So they made them this way to set it apart from super hero movies? That's pretty fucking dumb.

Rita is an ex-green ranger but that's about all there is to know.
The fact they're playing it straight as a more adult action already dooms it. The lure of Power Rangers and Super Sentai overall is the fact you can have frantic action but not get so serious that it comes off as try-hard. The campy self-aware nature of Sentai is what makes it such a phenomenon.

to me, the suits look one step off from this:

Like they used this as the base.

I don't think that was armor.
Someone pointed out the distinct lack of white to break up the design and tried to fix it

That looks hundred times better.
I think it looks good. Power Rangers have always had silly, gaudy and over the top designs reminiscent of their big brother Kamen Rider. Granted, I haven't watched a power rangers series in years and years so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Those are lifts, not heels. Almost every female character in the superhero films has them so they're not tiny compared to the guys. Its not a matter of design, its a matter of practicality when shooting.

Rita's also confirmed for having multiple looks through out the film

I do feel like this is potentially better though
First of all, this is a reboot aimed at adults from what I hear
second of all, I'm pretty sure Power Rangers copies most of its footage from a japanese show that isn't necessarily for kids, its bordering on 4kids dub status except they actually refilm some of it to localize the plots and make the actors not be Asian.

just look at this, the stuff translates to "bullshit" and "damn you", and the goings on are pretty hard to me.
Super Sentai is for kids and it's where Power Rangers gets most of it's footage/props/costumes from. They their language is a bit rougher because practically every country outside the states is more liberal with language and what they show kids.
I've always understood it as Super Sentai is the sister show and kids counterpart to Kamen Rider in the east and Power Rangers is the import we got in the west
how are they going to fight on those suits?
how are they going to fight on those suits?
How are they not going to fight on those suits

japanese doesn't really have profanity the way we think of profanity. the only words that tend to get censored for offensiveness are slurs against ethnic groups or disabled people
how are they going to fight in those suits?
Using their built-in arm cannons of course.

Super Sentai and Kamen rider are both kids shows. If I remember correctly Kamen Rider usually airs right after Super Sentai and both shows always cross over. America had it's own Kamen Rider season called Dragon Knight or something.

We had 2. Saban's Masked Rider (adaption of Black RX), and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight (Adaption of Kamen Rider Ryuki)
Tony created those suits with vibranium !
and they recruited them like Spidey
I was ok with the spandex. Rationally, I knew it was spandex, but I always suspended my disbelief and pretended it was some fantastic alien cloth with great properties.
Idk I kind of dig it, it looks like a much more futuristic take on the Power Rangers.
I *hate* the super hero genre. It's already WAY over done and it's not even close to being drained
"Superhero" is a really really broad term, i almost wouldnt call it a genre, because its more of a design thing.
Punisher could fall under that, same as Iron Man.
Theres nothing inherently wrong with the superhero craze as of late, whats wrong is that theres a lack of diversity with them (and im not talking about skin color), for example, the success of Deadpoo owes a lot to just being different.
That being said, this looks like garbage.
I don't like them. I mean, they aren't bad, but they look too "modern" super-hero to me and not really sentai enough.
how are they going to fight on those suits?
The magic letters are C G and I.
I have great nostalgia for Power rangers but they have made so many remakes/spin offs since the OG series. I am okay with this, they look cool, stop whining.

actually it's still aimed at young children so when you see things like bullshit it's because you're using garbage subs (TV-N in particular) that localize it that way, the language isn't actually that harsh
Man this really is the age of terrified producers pushing out needless IP movies
Another overdesigned mess for mainstream hollywood
I dont know what the fuck they are thinking most of the time
