It's just a gang war, basically. Let happen what happens and protect our own interests is what we should be doing.
ISIS and the Taliban have been at odds with each other for a while now anyways, iirc. The thing these guys share is the creation of an Islamic state and their interpretations of jihad. The methods to create said Islamic state, and the actual running of the state itself can vary wildly. It's not as black and white as "us vs bad guys".

Sounds like typical religious denominations. With more violence and dumb bullshit.

It's just nationalism taken to the extreme. This isn't exclusive to religious organizations.

No, they defend Islam, not whatever country they are from. It isn't nationalism.

It's religious nationalism.
Finally, a conflict where I can unironically support the Taliban.
I have to actually kind of agree - the Taliban do feel like the lesser of two evils. I suppose it goes to show just how bad ISIS is when you end up thinking "woo! Go Taliban! Kick their arses!"

Nationalism is when you stand up for where you're from. These groups are scattered across a dozen+ countries fighting for things they don't understand. That isn't nationalism dude. Nationalism would be me from the US saying fuck North Korea for cock waving at us, and etc.

Taliban have done more wrong over a longer period of time. You think this because the media is talking about ISIS more.
I don't have a problem with this. Let them kill each other. It'll make the cleanup job easier.

Not really - ISIS strikes me as being worse. The Taliban, for example, didn't go around destroying anything and everything of historical/cultural significance just because it might slightly offend them.
The Taliban kill more people while ISIS has a better propaganda machine. Due to the issues in syria, the taliban were losing funding and donors.
Isis and the afghan locals practice two different swcts of Sunni Islam. That may chang soon.
The Taliban just want afghnistan and nothing beyond, thats what I understand.
Isis also provides better payment package and using the caliphate as a way to convert taliban locals.

They destroyed the Buddhas of Bamiyan
