This is gonna turn out to be some epic fireworks for us europeans to point and laugh at.
Haha yeah, I love it when the civilians of so called empires are fucked over by wars because their leader decided it would be fun to fuck with their neighbour.
It's so damn funny.

like, epic
You'll get "raped" if you try to meet the local population, and most of the country is off-limits for a tourist.
You can't go anywhere without at least five soldiers nearby, or a car following you around. There are a "bunch" of recordings from NK on youtube and such.
I know I wouldn't go there.
My uncle who lives in China has been in North Korea once, you basically have these guards following you and a tour guide. Plus the only places he was allowed to visit were the countryside and a few monuments for their leader.
I hope IF there is a war, that we Germans are involved somehow.
This is gonna turn out to be some epic fireworks for us europeans to point and laugh at.
My girlfriend lives there, i 'aint laughing
I dreamed about this last night...
Wow I hoped you were gone forever.
Also; Can't NK just realise it is a ruined nation? I mean, it's not hard to realise that.
Nationalism.
You do realize they have the 5th largest army in the world.
Just because they don't have the greatest technology, doesn't mean they can't fight a war. South Korea vs North Korea won't be pretty.
It's not simply NK vs SK. Most of the Western world will be involved in this due to various treaties and agreements. Not to mention size does not matter. At one point people thought Britain was unbeatable. Enter the American Revolution.
now it's soon going to heat up to much. time to get to business s-korea
It was the UN that fought back then, not NATO.
If you don't count US troops then no.
Except in the future Korean conflict South Korea would be the nation of concern here. South Korea is not a member of NATO (because it isn't in Europe or North America). The US president might call for intentional assistance from NATO members, but I really don't except to see the Dutch, Germans, French, Danish and other countries to mobilize task forces and rush them to Korea.
You could be damn well sure that danish troops wouldn't be sent there unless the US was attacked on american soil itself.
I hope IF there is a war, that we Germans are involved somehow.
It'll be the first real war in almost 100 years where you guys weren't on the side who started the whole damn thing.

No the west wouldn't, it would be american troops fighting. NATO have no troops in the area, and never will. It will be a regional conflict, although the economical effects will be devestating for the world economy
oh fuck oh fuck were gonna be poor
aw man you invested in korean energy stocks too? oh god fuck garry i want my money back ffs

You don't seem to understand that NATO is required to back each other up in wars.
everyone who thinks this is going to turn into any kind of battle is daft
the U.S. has been doing this shit with NK for a long time, and it will only be a war of words. no fighting involved
everyone in NK is practically in the military but even though, if anyone started a war with it it'd be over in 10 minutes because nobody would fight it
To the people asking how/why you'd travel to North Korea:
It IS possible, you just have to know where to go. they don't permit any kind of cameras except a point and shoot, and they let you go where THEY want you to go.
Check out the VBS guide series on it, it's quite a great watch.
[editline]03:07AM[/editline]
You also have to pay respects to their fallen leader and participate in a bunch of other propaganda shit.
It's a pretty beautiful country in terms of landscape.
HOW, not WHY
You don't seem to understand that NATO is required to back each other up in wars.
True. Can you tell me the last time the United States was in a war as defined by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization? It was a long time ago.
Article 5, the North Atlantic Treaty
The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.
Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security.
Did you read the North Atlantic Treaty recently? If NATO was required to back up its members in all wars, then Vietnam, the Falklands and probably even the Mozambican War of Independence would be a different story.
Even then, members of NATO are only obliged to respond and not always with military force.

aw man... and my bro is goin to the army in september
This isn't good, at all.
But I can't stop myself from getting all excited at the thought of war between them.
You won't be so excited when they start launching ICBM's with nuclear warheads.
My great Grandpa on both sides (One was a Philippine and one was a Aussie) tell of the Americans being better sports
People who disagreed with this must of been in WWII with your grandpa, to know Americans 60 years ago and all

They don't have that capability
Pfff...we saved the Americans´s arse.

He was a single Prussian commander sent by the French to help the Americans in their war. I think any historian would laugh at you if you tried to argue he alone was the cause of American victory.
He probably just watched "America: The Story of Us" and just learned who von Steuben even was.
No, I just could not think of anything better.
Yeah, we are useless :(
If there is a war this would completely shatter modern warfares storyline.

Let us just say we have good Soldiers and be done with it, okay?
