• Woman crushed to death stepping onto an elevator. Horrified onlookers treated at hospital for "psych

This is my biggest fear everytime I get onto the elevator at uni. I got stuck in the elevator once for about 20 minutes, it was almost on the floor but a little bit down, they told me to crawl out but I was too scared of being cut in half (I'm on the 16th floor and have to use them about 14 times a day) Also the fact that they are really dodgy and need maintenance regularly. One even jumps up and down at every floor which is horryfying
I didn't know most of facepunch had such a fear of elevators.
any pictures?
"i just watched a woman get her leg torn off i should totally post this on the internet"
I think this calls for new legislation. All elevators must now be manned 24/7 by a driver and a guard. The driver controls the motion of the elevator and the guard safely dispatches it, then informs the driver the lift is ready to depart.
I read this as Escalator. Christ, imagine that

TO THE STAIRS!
She should sue, tbh. This is terrible.
The fuck is wrong with you?
There really isn't anything wrong this him. When you hear such an uncommon story, you can only sit there and wonder what happened. It impels you to wanting to see how it happened. It's just how the brain works most of the time.
You step in leg first, the doors slam shut on your leg as the elevator starts to rise fast. As it rises it leaves you in a dangling position under the elevator. Then the part of the elevator that has your leg in it reaches the ceiling. The elevator is malfunctioning, which means it is not in a proper climb, so it does not have the power to cleanly sever your leg. Instead what happens is it pulls your leg slowly as the elevator comes to a stop between floors. Your leg is smeared between the wall and elevator, with only flaps of skin, stretched tendons, and stretched ligaments connecting your leg in the elevator to your body hanging underneath. Here's an artist's conception of the scene: :C
i still have a hard time imagining how she gets pulled into the shaft, i guess that make sense thatit would be a very old fashioned elevator. with modern ones i would imagine her staying outside and just her foot being pulled out (though modern safer elevators would stop that anyway) then again I don't want a mental picture of this so ill stop worrying
It's an 85 year old building so it's not likely the elevator is 'modern'. So the doors grabbed her and held her leg as the elevator climbed.
I don't know about you guys, but I can not stand going in elevators. If there is a stairs alternative I always take that.
You get a bit of exercise too.
death penalty for all elevator company executives
The emergency stop button man! God damn. Unless you don't have the same standards we do so your elevators don't have them.
Yeah, we pressed it, it and open doors button were the same, it would open door if elevator was not moving and stop if it was, It was 6-7 years ago so I don't know how "sophisticated" the elevator was.
