Do it, take the biggest reddest piece of the US and leave. The amount of refineries and pipelines that will need to be rebuilt will keep construction workers busy for a few decades A texit would basically give the Democrats control of the US government indefinitely
It's far from the reddest if you look at facts and not bullshit.
Adding "not having to deal with Texan politicians" to my list of reasons to vote against Trump.
Except Texas can't legally secede where as Britain can legally leave the EU.
Hahaha that'll never happen, they need to shut up about it.
"Texan Pride" has been a thing for as long as I can remember. Even my sister who is like 99% Hispanic/Latina went through her "I love Texas" phase (which I'm not entirely sure she ever got out of.) It's just a really super silly way to pretend like we're "separate" from the rest of the States.
What does being Hispanic have to do with Texas pride? Have you never heard of Tejanos?
It's far from the reddest if you look at facts and not bullshit.
Yeah there's some pretty big misconceptions that Texas is some ultra conservative everyone votes red state.
If Trump doesn't win then they're better off leaving and building their own wall instead of allowing the flow of countless illegal immigrants to continue. Ironically they'd be making America safer from illegals too.
You're going to build a wall to keep them in? Net immigration has been negative for a while now, more people are leaving than coming from Mexico.
175 kilometres LMAO Also ignore the fact that migrants didnt want Hungary to begin with. They want Germany, so they instead moved over Croatia, they didnt care. I would love to know what would happen if Croatia built a wall. And Romania too. If they have no other passage we will see if they climb the walls or not.
Macedonia has a wall, Bulgaria has a wall, and Hungary has one too. Romania has modern surveillance equipment all over it's borders, nothing can illegally pass through. Since Macedonia built the wall too, the refugee influx stopped in the Balkans. They're all stuck in Greece now.
Lots of states have resources exclusive to their region. Also in terms of years, 160 is pretty much "nearly 200" as I said. Where its from is irrelevant. It's still a dozen life times ago. Texas is just another US state. It's just that there's some that don't like that fact when they're reminded about it.
But Texas literally has self-sufficient quantities of every natural resource you can even think of in it, even uranium, it's the largest exporting state, and would rank #9 in the world by manufacturing output alone, which is twice that of Russia.
Hahaha that'll never happen, they need to shut up about it.
Some people don't know how to give up foolish dreams.
good luck since the constitution disallows succession and the federal government would fuck your shit up beyond belief
I don't think it's viable, but the Constitution doesn't say shit about the Constitution, and the Supreme Court in their ruling on secession in the 1870s pretty much said secession is legal on two grounds, 1, if the rest of the U.S. tells it to fuck off, or 2. if the Seceding state has a War of Independence and win.
But Texas literally has self-sufficient quantities of every natural resource you can even think of in it, even uranium, it's the largest exporting state, and would rank #9 in the world by manufacturing output alone, which is twice that of Russia.
Even I think Texas going independent would be stupid - but it would easily be a competitive country if it ever managed to do so. The GDP of Texas is higher than that of South Korea, and less than 100 billion lower than that of the entirety of Australia. It would be the 13th largest nation in the world by nominal GDP. There's a million reasons why Texas leaving the US would be flat-out retarded, but it would be a competitive country on a global market. It's got a powerhouse economy.
What does being Hispanic have to do with Texas pride? Have you never heard of Tejanos?
Of course I have, but considering our upbringing- this is a personal anecdote, not factual evidence to anything?- her "Texas Pride" is brought on by a desire to fit in with a certain crowd of people and comes and goes depending on fads and whatever hokey trinkets she tends to pick up at the flea markets.

We're- we're the same race. She's my sister? Im not trying to disparage Hispanics or Latinos when I am one lol. Our family is predominantly of Mexican heritage and most if not all of our family members (sans my immediate family for whatever reason) adheres to more Mexican weighted cultural practices, none of which exhibit "Texas Pride". It's a statement on how it has a tendency to be very "fashionable" to be that way, especially for teenagers. My sister is well out of her teens at this point, but her pride comes and goes.
Oh hey, this shit again
I meant it was unnecessary to bring up race since that just invites a shitstorm about racism.
The irony is that no one cared until you pointed it out. Anyways, being from Texas myself I have seen literally nobody support the idea of seccession or even mention it unless they're trying to be satirical. Hell the giant redneck stereotype of Texas is basically a running joke here for a lot of people.
Uh, wrong article in OP?
This makes me embarrassed for my own state. If there are people that actually believe this, I mean.

Not to mention we have several very major bases in Texas. They wouldn't have to march very far :v:
Uh, wrong article in OP?
Yeah what? Are we replacing Texas with PR?
Wouldn't it make more sense to secede from the U.S. if Trump is elected? Actually, can we ALL just secede from the United States come this November?
Even I think Texas going independent would be stupid - but it would easily be a competitive country if it ever managed to do so. It's got a powerhouse economy.
Its GDP is also unencumbered by having to pay for the Texas Army, Texas Air Force and Texas Navy, and all their new bases (since the existing ones weren't designed to defend an entire state by themselves, and probably aren't self-sufficient), slightly over half of its DOT budget, and other hefty expenses - I imagine every part of the state government, and by extension the major cities, receives some level of funding and support from the fed. And its economy probably depends heavily on interstate commerce.
And its economy probably depends heavily on interstate commerce.
Well since the only way the state could secede is with the good graces of everyone else, it's not hard to imagine interstate trade would turn into international trade. We trade with Canada and Mexico all the time and they've always been different countries, it's not like Texas becoming another on our border would be any different.
I don't get why people like you always bring up Federal Funding yet ignore the undeniable fact that Texas contributes more money to the Federal Government than it receives back in said funding? In fact, on average, Texas has paid the Federal Government at a net loss of $374.8 million dollars a week on average from 1990 to 2009. http://www.economist.com/blogs/dailychart/2011/08/americas-fiscal-union Oh yeah and to add, what fucking enemies does Texas have that justifies a needing a sizable military? Mexico has only 6 fighter jets, and no tanks whatsoever.
The US Military would never allow it. Not to mention we have several very major bases in Texas.
Are there any states that would give a larger/more formidable armed rebellion than Texas though?
What I don't get is why the anti-secession people are so quick to jump to violence and armed conflict; Like really, these are usually the same people who are anti-war, but a second a state wants to secede from America? They pretty much act like the Serbs did in the 90s. Like seriously, look at Sudan, the USSR, Yugoslavia, East Timor; Using force to stop secession doesn't fucking work and just makes things even worst.
Classic broseph, he likes to start stupid racism talks and pretend he didn't put forth the racism/isn't one himself
What are you even going on about?
